(16,349 posts)Obviously those kids at Columbia could stand on the sidewalk and spew whatever filth they want, per 1st amendment, but you can't do that on private property w/out permission. You can't do it in the middle of a bridge. Surprised so many don't understand this.

(673 posts)Sort of like, "Hey Hey LBJ - How many kids did you kill today". That didn't go down well in some circles either.

(16,349 posts)You haven't noticed the rank antisemitism at the Columbia protests? They even have a "Jew free" zone. The local Chabad rabbi wrote an open letter suggesting that the Jewish students should fo home for now because of the danger of violence.

(16,349 posts)While every American has the right to peaceful protest, calls for violence and physical intimidation targeting Jewish students and the Jewish community are blatantly Antisemitic, unconscionable, and dangerous they have absolutely no place on any college campus, or anywhere in the United States of America. And echoing the rhetoric of terrorist organizations, especially in the wake of the worst massacre committed against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, is despicable. We condemn these statements in the strongest terms.

(1,912 posts)He does have a point though. What is acceptable protest? I was rewatching John Adams the other night and the topic
was the sedition acts (1798). It's sometimes difficult to thread the needle isn't it?

(643 posts)...blocking some people who have the opposite of your feelings. Your point is made. Period.
When you block a road or bridge, some of the people feel exactly like you. You feel like them. You're an asshole.
