On the topic of gender orientation and identity...

One line of reasoning I've often pointed out to friends...

Is how accepting everyone is to the notion that autism is a deviation from the norm; furthermore,
it's understood the differences are exhibited on a spectrum

It's also a condition of the brain

If one's sexual orientation might also be a deviation from the norm, could that too also be on a spectrum ?

And originating from differences in the brain ?

For myself, it's inconceivable for me to choose to be sexually intimate with another man. I have always been attracted to the opposite gender (even in first grade!)

But, if my orientation was more on the spectrum - more near the center, I might believe that being attracted to the same gender is indeed more of a "lifestyle choice," and in my ignorance, I might assume that everyone was the same as me

I just wanted to share my musings on this

I don't understand why being "near the center" makes it seem more like a lifestyle choice than an inherent trait. WhiskeyGrinder Apr 21 #1

would I care what floats your boat? That is unless I was unsure about myself. Seems those that scream the loudest are trying to cover up their own repressed desires.

affects or inconveniences me in any real way. So, I'm indifferent to such things. I can't see why I should be bothered by it. None of my business. Truly.
