Turning Point USA is a radical rightwing dark money group with chapters on college campuses, appealing to rightwing students.

All/most/many colleges have a rule that, if there is a campus chapter of an organization, then that chapter is allowed to invite speaker(s). TP invites disruptive speakers or speakers whom they know to be controversial -- think Kyle Rittenhouse -- to college campuses. When the speakers are interrupted, TP has it all on video which they edit and use in promotional videos to attract donations to help them fight against the "campus radicals who want to shut down conservative speakers."

They are trying to make a term "woke" mean something bad, it just doesn't fly.

About a two-and-a-half-minute package but nearly zero context about why this guy is so loathed by anybody left of MAGA. Just some servant of the people being shouted down by the "woke mob." No context about why Turning Point USA is more than just a "conservative student group."

TV news is show business. Even benign-sounding packages like this one just don't have the time to properly inform the citizenry so that they can make informed choices.
