(15,003 posts)and they don't need a reason or excuse. Johnson and TFG don't need to coordinate to be on the same page, because the rules are both simple and public knowledge.
The lesson they learned from 2020 wasn't "don't try that" but rather "don't make a half-assed gesture, go all the way."
It is a naked power grab and abuse of the process, and they will do it if they have the numbers. The only way to stop them is to have the numbers -- i.e. get every possible Dem elected to the House and Senate.

(532 posts)As the current House Speaker he can refuse to seat enough newly elected Democrats so we don't get a majority. There was a Supreme Court case about that back in 1969, but the current SC would happily overrule that
