What does she really have to say & what analysis could she provide. They could find anybody cheap to mouth a party line, if they wanted "equal time".
They weren't going to pull viewers from Faux or Newsmin with her. She wasn't that high profile among the masses.
All it had the potential to do was alienate existing viewers, which it did.
Very bad business decision all around. They all need to go.

"[W]e will redouble our efforts to seek voices that represent different parts of the political spectrum."
Apparently, another issue was paying her $300,000 year after NBC News had layoffs in January.
