Where I started was women not being able to get their own credit cards, apply for their own loans, rent their own apartments, or do a lot of things they had to find some damned man to do for them.

It was illegal to be gay. It was illegal for unmarried women to get birth control. Abortion was illegal in every state. And don't get me started on Jim Crow,, my language deteriorates pretty quickly.

I suppose if I were in my 20s, I'd be chafing at the stupidity still cursing our lives, the WoD foremost, followed quickly by slave states giving women fewer rights than corpses, and the tyranny of neoliberalism and its pet billionaires. In my late 70s, I know these are temporary and that after a few more outrages caused by overreaching Christian patriarchs, we'll make some more progress. It comes in fits and starts. It's not an unbroken line. It does happen.

But I see the writing on the wall unless something incredible happens.

Why can’t someone just outsmart Trump? Why can’t he meet a bigger asshole than he is who can put him in his place? How can one man wreck a whole country? Yes, it was done before and that’s precisely why we should never let it happen again.

Dems need to do something.

I also see the writing on the wall and I see the way every single one of these trials and appeals and penalties will go. They all go in favor of trump. One after the other.

I have a question to add to yours about someone outsmarting him. Why can't someone accidentally bump into him on a 10th floor balcony? Or leave a few ball bearings on a long staircase?

I said elsewhere that I was giving up. That's not the right way to put it. I simply have zero expectations left that he will ever suffer any consequences whatsoever as a result of any of his crimes. As for his money, not only does he have lots of classified info left to sell, he will soon be getting a regular supply of new info. That Russian courier that visited? Happy to trade threats to judges and attorneys for some of that classified info. Trump will continue to skate right through everything.

He is a threat not only to the United States but to our allies as well. I’m just saying that I’m surprised that it hasn’t already happened.

Figure by then, anyone overreacting will have had the opportunity to apply a more measured line of reason, stand up, dust off, and then get on with the campaign.

Some more so than others. I want him to run out of legal maneuvers soon so the trials can go on. He's spending more time milking the justice system than he ever spent "presidenting".

That's not a bad thing in many ways.
