Trump just announced that he is moving his business HQ from NY to FL

with intent to construct a new building at his golf course property in Jupiter.
@aronberg explains why that likely has Letitia James’ attention.

Former President Donald Trump’s decision to build a new office in Palm Beach County is clearly a response to the civil fraud verdict in New York, but it will only happen if Barbara Jones allows it.

Barbara Jones is the retired federal judge whom Judge Arthur Engoron assigned to oversee the Trump Organization’s finances in November 2022, and will remain in that position for the next three years. In her role as company babysitter, Jones has access to all of the company’s books, and must be notified about any large cash transfers or dissolution of assets.

Although it looks suspicious that Trump is building a new office complex at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida, costing up to $15 million, it is not yet clear whether this is allowable, or an impermissible transfer of assets. We should know more after Monday’s deadline for Trump to post an approximate $464 million bond in his civil fraud case. If Trump is unable to secure the bond, and AG James begins seizing properties and putting liens on assets, then it is likely the new office building will be disallowed.

They can seize the NY buildings with no problem. Buildings in other states or countries are considered foreign property. That does not make it untouchable. They apply to be able to seize property in a different state, and then they take it.

Think. Again.

even if they move to a different state the original state still has jurisdiction. And can take any action to recover any assets or to extradite him back.

This mostly happens with divorces with kids regarding child support or paternity cases. And one of the parties lives in a different state. The court can still file the necessary court papers to garnish the necessary wages from their employer for child support payments.

The same is likely in Trump's case. Defendants can't escape prosecution by moving to a different state.

He was advised to move emergency HQ's, including the communications center away from the WTC after the attack during the early 90's due to its attractiveness as a target by Bin Ladin. Guiliani failed to do so. So following the 9/11 attacks he ran around town with a walkie talkie like a kid during school recess and joking that the HQ's were located where ever he was located.

It's a very sharp line between evasion and avoidance when it comes to paying a court ordered judgement.

He would be on the criminal side of that line if he absconds with assets to evade his judgement.

He could find himself in rikers while he delays and delays.

He doesn't have the power to make that decision anymore. Being stripped of the right to do business in New York means he can't do any kind of business there--like moving the headquarters of any business.

That's what it means when you have your right to do business in a state suspended.

Sucks to be you, Hair Furor.
