Some one pls clarify now that MTG has made a motion to vacate: A talking head on CNN just said...

that any Congressperson can make a motion to vacate the Speaker's chair. I don't think that's right as I was under the impression that only Congresspersons in the ruling majority party can do that.

Is anyone sure which is it?

Under the new House rules passed Monday, only one member of Congress — Democrat or Republican — is needed to bring a "motion to vacate," which forces a vote on removing the speaker. That would need only a simple majority of the House to pass to oust McCarthy.
