Trump allys stunning request: 'If this election doesnt go our way the next day we fight'
by David Badash
Alternet.org, March 21, 2024
Christian nationalist and far-right political activist Charlie Kirk, a top influencer and Trump ally, urged supporters at a faith-based event on Sunday to fight if Donald Trump doesnt win the 2024 presidential election.
I want to make sure that we all make a commitment that if this election doesnt go our way, the next day we fight, Kirk told the audience at Freedom Night, hosted by Pastor John Randall.
Its a very important thing, Kirk added before saying, a lot of people dont want to hear that. They say, What do you mean it doesnt go our way? It has to go our way. We have to win. I agree.
Kirk is a member of the highly-secretive Council for National Policy, a purveyor of Donald Trumps Big Lie, and has repeatedly promoted the false claim that U.S. elections are rigged.

Alex Carey: Corporations and Propaganda
The Attack on Democracy
The 20th century, said Carey, is marked by three historic developments: the growth of democracy via the expansion of the franchise, the growth of corporations, and the growth of propaganda to protect corporations from democracy. Carey wrote that the people of the US have been subjected to an unparalleled, expensive, 3/4 century long propaganda effort designed to expand corporate rights by undermining democracy and destroying the unions. And, in his manuscript, unpublished during his life time, he described that history, going back to World War I and ending with the Reagan era. Carey covers the little known role of the US Chamber of Commerce in the McCarthy witch hunts of post WWII and shows how the continued campaign against "Big Government" plays an important role in bringing Reagan to power.
John Pilger called Carey "a second Orwell", Noam Chomsky dedicated his book, Manufacturing Consent, to him. And even though TUC Radio runs our documentary based on Carey's manuscript at least every two years and draws a huge response each time, Alex Carey is still unknown.
Given today's spotlight on corporations that may change. It is not only the Occupy movement that inspired me to present this program again at this time. By an amazing historic coincidence Bill Moyers and Charlie Cray of Greenpeace have just added the missing chapter to Carey's analysis. Carey's manuscript ends in 1988 when he committed suicide. Moyers and Cray begin with 1971 and bring the corporate propaganda project up to date.
This is a fairly complex production with many voices, historic sound clips, and source material. The program has been used by writers and students of history and propaganda. Alex Carey: Taking the Risk out of Democracy, Corporate Propaganda VS Freedom and Liberty with a foreword by Noam Chomsky was published by the University of Illinois Press in 1995.

Not One Single Republican Votes for Probe of Neo-Nazis in US Military and Police

CommonDreams, July 14, 2022
Zero House Republicans on Wednesday supported a measure requiring the Pentagon and federal law enforcement agencies to publish a report on countering white supremacist and neo-Nazi activity in their ranks.
Rep. Brad Schneider's (D-Ill.) amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2023 directing the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Defense "to publish a report that analyzes and sets out strategies to combat white supremacist and neo-Nazi activity in the uniformed services and federal law enforcement agencies" passed in a party-line 218-208 vote.
Among present lawmakers, Democrats were unified in support and Republicans in opposition. Reps. Theodore Deutch (D-Fla.), Kevin Brady (R-Texas), Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), and Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) did not vote.
Snip
Schneider's proposal requests "figures on the number of people who were discharged from uniformed services or law enforcement because of situations involving white supremacy and neo-Nazi activity," The Hill reported. It also calls for "information on how the agency leaders responded to 'planned or effectuated incidents' connected to white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideology."

(50,563 posts)You KNOW the co-ax is the wrong weapon to use against Christian nationalists. It'll work but it takes too fucking long.
M1028 canister out of the main gun is the right weapon to use. The company that makes it says it has "devastating anti-personnel lethality for the Abrams tank."
(For the non-GIs in the crowd, "canister" is a shotgun shell for a tank's main gun. A tank cartridge looks like a round of rifle ammunition, just vastly larger. Canister ammo has a...well, canister...where the bullet would be, and it's full of little tungsten balls. Throw one in the gun and fire it; when the canister leaves the end of the barrel it disintegrates and the little tungsten balls, being propelled by the fifteen pounds of gunpowder in the cartridge, cancel Christmas for anyone within 500 meters of the nose of the tank.)
And the best part is, you only have to fire one. Send the first one downrange and the rest of them will leave...like, right fucking now, and as fast as their little legs will carry them. You wouldn't necessarily even need to fire it at anyone; superelevate your main gun so the little balls will whiz over their heads, fire, and these guys will get the hint that their lives are in immediate danger.

(66,467 posts)The M-1028 cannister round wasn't fielded until after I ETS'd in 1993. Combustible casing 120mm round technology back then limited us to the sabot and the HEAT round. For a little while I even crewed Abrams' with the old 105mm gun, for which they did have both canister and HESH rounds. But we never used them. Not even as practice rounds.
Any time I wonder if I really accomplished anything worthwhile when I was in the Army, I just remember that I could routinely wrestle a 120mm HEAT round out of the ammo compartment, flip it back-to-front, ram it into the gun breach, and have it ready to fire in around four seconds. My tank commander (who otherwise didn't like me very much) called me "Rapid-Fire."

Charlie Kirk Needed a Friend
The beanpole of a kid finally found his clique not in high school, but among elite Republican donors.
by Kyle Spencer
Politico, October 20, 2022
EXCERPT...
Kirk has mythologized this origin story. But in public tellings, he has left out a key detail that paints him in a less heroic light and suggests that even at the end of high school, he still struggled to get along with his peers, even those who shared his political views. As he was planning his new group, he was still affiliated with SOS Liberty. And on the same day he launched The Turning Point, Kirk posted an embittered resignation letter on SOS Libertys Facebook page, alluding to disagreements group members were having with him. Kirk accused them of planning behind my back. He announced he was going out on his own and invited anyone who wanted to join his new group under his leadership. I will take the same passion and drive I have and create a bigger, better, smarter, more effective group, he wrote.
Kirk did eventually go out and do that. But at least at first, his most important allies and friends were not other teens. They were donors, many in their 70s and 80s, who were also his financial supporters. He had met them on the Tea Party circuit, in hotel ballrooms and country club meeting halls, at fundraisers for local politicians and suburban gatherings where he often jumped up, nervously, at first, in an oversized suit and tie to say a few words about the countrys future and his desire to corral young Americans to the GOP.
SNIP...
As time went on and Kirks star rose, his roster of supporters began to look more impressive. Eventually, he befriended a politically plugged-in Palm Beach couple, Lee and Allie Hanley. The Hanleys werent like some of his earlier supporters who wore athleisure-wear golf shirts and were sometimes gruff. They were an always exquisitely dressed Greenwich, Conn., couple who summered on Fishers Island, the ultra-exclusive WASP enclave off the Connecticut coast, and wintered in Palm Beach at a Mediterranean-style home designed by the iconic architect Maurice Fatio. Lee, the heir to a brick and petroleum fortune, was a Yale alum and track and field star.
SNIP...
With Allies influence rubbing off on him and a new stylish wardrobe, Kirk got the makeover he needed, Walsh recalls. He replaced his outdated suits with expensive-looking sports coats, which he paired with starched white oxfords and cool streetwear sneakers or leather lace-ups the color of desert sand. Soon, he would don hip-patterned socks and sport a voguish hairdo. His tic waned and the Chicago twang dissipated.
It wouldnt be long before the Reagan-loving kid from suburban Chicago wasnt just hitting up the rich for cash. He was hanging with them at their sprawling vacation homes, hunting and fishing with them, attending their lavish birthday celebrations, and having God chat with them on their boats. One fundraising executive, almost twice Kirks age, recalls arriving at a donors beach house for a meeting and noticing Kirk pacing in the backyard on his cell. He was there as a houseguest. Kirk would soon also be included in important strategy sessions with conservative powerbrokers desperate to overcome Obama-ism and take back Washington in 2016. These would happen in plush living rooms with expensive pieces of period furniture and museum-grade art, far from the McMansion-dotted suburbs where Kirk had grown up.

Right-wing host and Turning Point USA Chief Executive Officer Charlie Kirk' second-annual Pastors Summit, held in Nashville, Tennessee, was sponsored by "a registered sex offender," Rolling Stone reports.
Rolling Stone notes Kirk has been outspoken amid conservative-led criticism of Target for selling transgender-inclusive youth apparel, alleging the corporation shows "support for grooming kids."
The publication reports:
Rolling Stone has learned that one of the TPUSA summit's corporate sponsors is a Christian fashion company that is led by a registered sex offender, Shawn Bergstrand, who served time in federal prison for attempted 'coercion and enticement' after trying to persuade 'a minor female to 'engage in sexual activity.'
CEO (of) Rightside Up a "Christian 'lifestyle apparel' company" Bergstrand is "a registered sex offender in North Dakota," after being "convicted in 2014 for attempted 'coercion and enticement.'"
