Recon plan to gut Social Security for MORE tax cuts to add trillions in debt.

Robert Reich

The largest caucus of House Republicans released a plan that cuts Social Security spending by $1.5 trillion.

These are the same Republicans pushing to extend the Trump tax cuts — which would add $3.5 trillion to the deficit.

None of this is really about addressing the debt.

There is never an end to tax cuts on the wealthy. There isn't an amount they are ok with MadameButterfly Mar 21 #1

except zero. And there's never an end to cuts in Social Security. They won't stop until benefits are zero. If this is ever achieved they'll come up with an excuse for people to pay in with no hope of getting anything out. Or they'll tax the middle class to benefit the rich. (They already kind of do, but right now they have to hide it with loopholes and pork, they can't do it directly--yet).

What happened to these people in their childhood to make them heartless and unfair, unable to see anything from another's point of view? They don't understand the joy of giving, helping others. They're able to overlook misery for their own financial gain and they think this makes them happy, because they don't know what real happiness is. They're missing the point of life.

Dean and Casey sent back nice replies. Nothing from Fetterman, but I assure you this is an issue he won’t waver on.

It has ALWAYS been about who gets the benefits of the labor from society.

Conservatives (the leadership) fundamentally believes that some people (see Rich White Men) are naturally better than other people and that they are the only ones deserving of the benefits of society. They do not care about how big government gets, they just don't want any of the work of government to go to the undeserving (anyone not Rich, White, and Male). They don't care about fiscal responsibility, they just care that the money is spent, or borrowed for the benefit of the wealthy, not the poor undeserving people.

What gets me upset is just how many people who will NEVER be wealthy, just thrown in their lot with Conservative leaders because, "at least those other people get hurt worse than me".

Democrats are by no means perfect, but at least we want to try to distribute the benefits we all work hard for, more equitably and justly.
