Trump hallucinating that he has won his fraud appeal already

If you haven't seen the wall of crazy that Trump put out on "Truth Social" when it became clear no one trusts him enough to lend him the money for the bond to appeal his New York fraud judgement, it's quite an eye-opener. It's as unhinged as anything he's ever produced. It's like a nutter on a street corner rambling about how 'They' took all his money, and are to blame for everything in his life. If a relative wrote you a letter like this, you'd contact doctors about treatment and care for them. He claims he has already won his appeal, for some reason:

In another, he falsely claimed that Judge Arthur Engoron is breaking precedent by ordering the bond be paid before a defendant enters the appeal process. He “wants me to put up the ridiculous fine (I DID NOTHING WRONG!) before I get a chance to Appeal his crazed ruling – A first!” Trump wrote.

In reality, appeal security bonds are a common practice in civil courts throughout the country. The bond essentially guarantees that the individual would be able to pay the amount owed should they lose their appeal, and helps prevent individuals from indefinitely skirting penalties by delaying the enforcement of an order through the appeals process.
...
“Judge Engoron actually wants me to put up Hundreds of Millions of Dollars for the Right to Appeal his ridiculous decision. In other words, he is trying to take my Appellate Rights away from me when I have already won at the Appellate Division, but he refuses to accept their already made decision,” Trump claimed.

Trump has not won an appeal on the case. In fact, several appeals submitted by his legal team before the final judgment were overturned or denied by New York courts, with other motions filed during the trial remaining unresolved.

He's not fit to be in charge of a golf cart, let alone a country. And he is, of course, a rapist.

Wish, granted.

However, the problem is that there’s a wide swath of people and organizations that for a variety of reasons (none of them good) refuse to recognize that fact. Denial runs deep.

I expect the $500+ million fine will be reduced to 40-60%. The 8th Amendment. The judgment for compensatory damages, legal fees, etc, will stand, adding up to ~$20 million. The punishment, punitory, serving-as-an-example fine will be capped at about 100-150% of the compensatory, real costs Carroll suffered. This will meet the 8th Amendment test.
So of $91 million, Trump/his estate will pay about $50 million. It will take 8-10 years, by which time everybody will be dead. And Carroll will never have got a dime out of it, sadly.

Trump's team, inept as they are, will surely rely heavily on the 8th Amendment
"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."

There will be lots of argument about whether the penalty/punitive component constitutes a "fine", and there is even more about whether the 8th applies in civil cases as well as criminal cases.

There will also be argument that a penalty that impoverishes is "cruel and..." etc. It is clearly intended as a 'punishment'.

I predict the appeals court will seek to find a "reasonable" sum that serves multiple intentions but does not devastate.

You are mixing the 2 in your reply - the detail that you give is all about the Carroll judgement.

decided on appeal, and she’ll get it right after the court’s decision.

That is why Trump had to post a bond through Chubb.

He's been claiming this since at least December.

He's referring to the partial victory on the tolling status that eliminated Ivanka from the trial, and left the application of the rest of the tolling statute to the judge. As part of this current appeal, he claims the judge misspelled the earlier ruling.

The dumb basturd needs intervention, like yesterday.

"Isn't ANYbody gonna help that poor man?"

He needs a white coat with really long sleeves that go behind his back. Put him in a padded cell (with bars) and let him go babble on to his heart's content until he blows a cranial artery. That would go a long way to making America great again.

If money problems and bankruptcy do finally bring down the Trump monster, it will definitely put a new spin on this old cliche.

And perhaps it will undo the original myth of Donald Trump being a great financial and business genius, that that horrible reality TV show created once and for all.
