I guess it's another election year: because the websites I'm running are getting hit

heavily with attempted logins.
I don't know if the IP's are accurate, but they're coming from everywhere. It used to be mostly Russia and U.S.
Now it's pretty much everywhere.

Along with the Wi-Fi connected HD phone services and cellular based Wi-Fi home Internet.

As an experiment recently, I found that in just running my typical daily errands without lifting a digitized finger, I swapped through three physical network providers (AT&T was the only one missing) and six contract Internet services. This is for a trip of less than five miles.

It does make it a little more difficult for the criminals, though. They just move on until they hit the next idiot with absolutely no protection on their computer at all. It amazes me just how many people that is, too. 🙄

...you said "heavily", about what number of attempts is that?

I'm curious because (if I understand all this correctly) a very large number of attempts might indicate an automated effort, and not actual individual people taking the time to try this.
