BREAKING - Trumps hold on the GOP
11% of Ohio GOP voters say theyll vote for Biden in Nov
8% of Ohio GOP voters say theyll vote for no one in Nov
18.5% of Florida GOP voters have voted for Haley or DeSantis a clear sign those voters will NOT vote for Trump in Nov

(25,505 posts)False. It says nothing about the general election. There is no reason to believe that some, if not most, of them will still vote for Trump.
Do people also believe that 13% of Michigan Democrats will not vote for Biden in November?

(25,505 posts)That's been happening a lot this cycle. We heard a lot of the same things in 2016. 65% of voters were voting against Trump, so they wouldn't show up in November, and we know how that turned out. It's just faulty (or wishful) thinking.
The Ohio voters were specifically asked their intentions for November, so that's closer to reality. I think, in the end, those numbers might still be high, but I'll take whatever we can get.

(47,207 posts)As far as what are the implications, I do believe Trump is in a lot of trouble and I have been saying that now for a few weeks.

(216 posts)I think trump is in a shitload of electoral trouble and he knows it. You can practically see the flop sweat every time he's on TV.

(1,625 posts)We can't expect that these numbers will remain true in Nov, but the trend of reporting on the peeling off from trump is something we didn't see to this extent in 2020. Trump fatigue is real and it is increasing.
Some would assume that I'm saying that Democrats could relax, and I'm not. I'm just saying that trump fatigue is more real than it was in 2020.

(3,527 posts)I believe there are many Republicans nationwide that will never vote for Trump. I do not believe the same is true for Biden. While there are some constituencies that are more prevalent in Michigan who may refrain from voting for Biden in the General, they risk electing the existential threat of Trump who is vehemently anti-Muslim. The same can not be said for disaffected Republicans.
In general, what you say is true. One can not extrapolate that Republicans who did not vote for Trump in the Primary will choose Biden or abstain in the General. BUT, it is provably a more plausible scenario. Again, the same can not be said for Dems who did not vote for Biden in the Primary.
Just my opinion. Peace
defendant 45 is done, not sure he will make it to november~

(7,437 posts)about a dystopian US governed by Dictator Donny. It should be about all of the expressed desires that roam around in Donny's addled brain: putting migrants in concentration camps. Outlawing abortion nationwide. Deporting people of color. Shooting suspicious people on site. Elevating fascist militia groups to special police force status. Decriminalizing sexual assault. Banning elections that have competing candidates. Giving Donny absolute immunity from prosecution. What would all of it be like?
Show me your papers.

It is becoming our analog to "doing my own research" slightly dressed up as based on something at least.
Unfortunately "something" is little to no better than flat out guessing.
Votes for a candidate (or no candidate) other than the presumed successful candidate in a partisan primary has nothing to do with whether they will vote outside of their preferred party in November.
I voted for a judicial candidate other than the one endorsed by the party. She's currently behind her opponent by about a ratio of 2:1. Come November, I'll vote for her primary opponent, rather than the Republican nominee.

(1,390 posts)In 2016, 5% of Michigan Democrats voted for TSF.
Around another 3% voted third party.
It wouldn't take much to get to 13% with the level of stupid lurking in the electorate.

(28,514 posts)unopposed and people still voted for people who have dropped out of the race. Its not Bernie and Hillary again, conservatives across the country are actively rejecting him. Will some vote for him? Sure. But definitely not all of them.

(24,346 posts)voting for Trump. I think DeSantis pretty much presented himself as the same sort of asshole that Trump is, only younger. What is scary is that he is young, and although he didn't do well this year, he could move into Trump's place once Trump is dead and gone.

(13,923 posts)This election is about getting Americans to show up. That simple, that challenging.
All this bullshit about non-Trump Republicans is exactly that. They will vote for whichever vile fucker is running against the Democrat.
