If I wanted to hear inaccurate, untrue comments stated as fact, I'd turn on fox news. But I don't want to hear b.s. So no commentary until later today, if at all.

I listen on Tune-In, don't see faces, and don't recognize every voice. I got home, turned on my laptop, linked to Tune-In, and that was the first, only sentence I heard, shut it off.
I'm sorry to assume that everyone is tuned in to and in the same moment. Won't happen again.

(17,129 posts)and not an opinion. I totally disagree and it is the kind of opinion and reaction that you'd expect to hear from a fox guest/host, but why let it pass unchallenged on msnbc?
The guest said that Biden was blah blah and sometimes voters want to get blah blah guy out of office even if the alternative is distasteful. I shut it off and I'm not dignifying the comment with a complete paraphrase here.
President Biden is about as weak as a lion on steroids. But when idiots like whoever it was get away with stating their opinion as fact and the host lets it pass, people not in President Biden's camp might think it's a true fact and bam, they get another vote for traitor, or kennedy, or a stay home, no vote at all.
I don't expect blind devotion to President Biden. It is sickening to see rwnj blindly accept their traitor leader. But, if I don't like something President Biden says or does, I don't jump on television and blather about it. And if I'm trying to advance my political or media career, I sure wouldn't dis the best hope this country has to defeat traitor with one hand and keep the country headed forward with the other.
What we have going on in this country and across the world is crazy and sometimes I let it get to me.

Just strikes me as lazy or incompetent. Very disappointing.
I dont watch looking for confirmation of my own biases, although I know I am as limited as anyone. I do hope a host or guest has something informative or interesting. Too much of neither.

(1,336 posts)The guest who made the offensive remarks is Republican Mike Murphy, political gadfly. The fill in host is Michael Steele, former Lt. Governor of Maryland and former RNC chair. I really like Michael Steele and hes a credible host, but hes no Nicole Wallace. Nicole would not have let Murphys remarks stand uncontested.

(47,770 posts)He is a very old school republican political consultant. There was a time when I would have found him intolerable, but I suppose all things are relative and in today's Trump/MAGA environment, he almost seems reasonable. Nonetheless, he still is who he used to be, irritating and insincere. He's just not batshit crazy I suppose.
I wouldn't have expected a reasonable comment about Biden or Democrats, but it's not a huge deal. We rarely see him on TV anymore these days anyway.

Democratic values centered on economic and racial justice shape my own politics. Im not convinced those values shape hers. Nothing Clinton says or intends to do if elected will fundamentally transform the circumstances of the most vulnerable in this countryeven with her concessions to the Sanders campaign. Like the majority of Democratic politicians these days, she is a corporate Democrat intent on maintaining the status quo. And I have had enough of all of them.
What I find amusing is that somehow, Glaude got his byline taken of the above article

I am not voting for Hillary Clinton, regardless of her endorsement by Bernie Sanders. My decision isnt because of the scandal around her emails or because of some concern over her character. My reasons are pretty straightforward. I dont agree with her ideologically.

(22,074 posts)Why do you keep watching MSNBC since it upsets you?
Marthe48
(17,129 posts)I read plenty of news on DU and I am grateful that so many people collect and share news stories. I guess I tune into msnbc to get a different slant on stories I read here.
I didn't have any temper tantrums listening to Rachel Maddow or Lawrence O'Donnell last night Guess that'll have to satisfy me for the week.
I think I picked up bad habits from my great aunt. My great aunt lived with us after she had a stroke and she'd absolutely rave at the television. We could hear her all through the house. And that was in the 1960s! I haven't had a stroke yet, but I'm skating on thin ice.
PJMcK
(22,074 posts)Until Nicole Wallace comes on. From then through the evening, it's mostly watchable.
YouTube has become a viewing portal for me because I get to pick and choose from an endless catalog of videos.
Regardless, I'll keep reading your posts on DU!
I don't watch any of the msnbc hosts until Nicole Wallace. It took me a long time to tune in to her, because of her r. background. But she reports news and comments on the stories. As for evening shows, I used to watch from 7-11, but not any longer. If I'm hyperalert because of current events, I'm not ready to sign a peace treaty with the political views that got us here. There may be a time in the future that I will look for things to agree on and move forward, just not right now. So when I tune in to that last media that I relied on to report and discuss from my side of politics, I can't help being very disappointed to hear them dis our side.
I rely on You Tube. I listen to old radio shows and watch history and science documentaries. I have a television, had it on the other day for the first time since last fall. Cut cable tv about 4 years ago.
