'No point donating now': Lifelong Republicans revolt after Lara Trump elected RNC co-chair

Former President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has now officially replaced Ronna McDaniel as the new co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) following a unanimous vote.

Despite having no previous campaign or political organizing experience, Lara — who is the wife of the former president's son, Eric — is now in charge of the Republican Party's national organization, and is tasked with both retaking the White House in 2024 along with regaining control of the US Senate. Michael Whatley ascended to the top of the GOP along with Lara, after he previously served as chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party.

Right-wing influencer Wendy Patterson, who has more than 150,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), suggested she may leave the GOP altogether after the news of Lara Trump's ascendancy to the top of the RNC. "Bad idea and shame on her for usurping Scott Pressler," Patterson tweeted, referring to the GOP activist many other conservatives hoped would lead the RNC after McDaniel's exit. "I'm coming hard and fast with the I told you so... This country doesn't stand a chance if you're still voting for popularity contests."

X user @TyRWilliams1, who describes himself as a Navy veteran and an attorney, wrote the GOP had become "a full-blown corruption riddled nepotism laden cult of incompetency." Iraq veteran Peter Henlein tweeted that he was now "out" after "a lifetime of donating to every GOP nominee and multiple down ballot candidates every cycle."

"I donated to help win elections, not to maintain the lifestyle of a billionaire," he wrote. "No point donating now."

get screwed out of the $8 million, but there's no way he did anything to really earn that. I doubt the donors approved though most won't admit it. Look for them to steal everything in sight at the RNC and stock the place with scum.

The bastard even said he couldn't leave with empty pockets! LOL

They have some rationale that it was okay because a wealthy FW supporter bought him out more or less. Bullshit. Money is fungible and not just when it's Planned Parenthood. It was FW money.

TSF had to get her a paying job lest she stray from family control. (Did you see that come f' me dress she wore at Mar A Lago New Years Eve party? Sure looked like she was prowling for a better provider.)

Since TSF's donor base is shrinking & his silly, overpriced 'products' are not flying off the virtual shelves, he needed Plan B. Or is it plan C? Can't use children's charity piggy bank after the 'boys' got busted for that little corruption. Imaginary cartoons of Trump are not selling. Chances are there are still cases of water way past their Best By Date and maybe even some steaks and vodka in the freezer, aging badly. What's a garbage 'businessman' to do?

Ah, have the daughter-in-law let him put his vile hand up her and use her as the puppet that steals the rubes' coins at the puppet show!

I still can't believe that ding bat, career searching Lara managed to get the job. Wow, there must be a ton of files on any member of the GOP that TSF can whip out to blackmail people into diving off the cliff for him.

Only the dumbest of the dumb will send RNC any moolah now. Small wonder Mitch McConnell threw in the towel. He saw the writing on the wall. And maybe his sister-in-law's Tesla taking her for a swim was the exclamation point on the statement that his way (bad as it was for democracy) is now no way.

::Sigh:: So many vile possibilities, many being mere conjecture, and yet, he manages to sink lower than even our lowest, most unlikely theories. Now, even the 'Grand Old Party' lays splayed out, bleeding, dying, on the steps of cultural governance, victim of so many knives in the back for so long.

This is a rerun of Pat Buchanan's takeover of the Reform Party in 2000. Buchanan replaced experienced Reform Party personnel and officers with his own friends and relations - at fabulous salaries - and they did very little for the campaign. Buchanan himself did very little campaigning, and the result was so miserable that the Reform Party lost its eligibility to appear on most future election ballots. That didn't matter much because Buchanan and his friends sucked the Reform Party accounts dry, leazving it virtually bankrupted and incapable of mounting a meaningful campaign in the next election.

Trump is doing this with the Republican Party, which has more money to be looted. But there is a real risk that - after paying Trump's legal fees (does that include the damages and penalties?) - the Republican Party will be a mere shadow of itself.

And the morality of those who run it.

The 'R' party has no positive ethos - grifting isn't a positive - and no competencies nor morality.

It is dying. Donors hide their purses and wallets, and eventually they will deny any involvement.

Every move they make is another shovel full of dirt out of their future grave.
It will be a pauper's grave. With no visitors.

RNC Committeewoman Beth Bloch believes the move is one approved by God. And honestly, that tracks for “The Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic, considering “Jesus was the original nepo baby.”

In her speech introducing Lara Trump as the new co-chair, Bloch argued that her appointment reminds everyone “of a powerful truth: God does not call the qualified, God qualifies the called.” According to Block, Lara Trump is “the embodiment of this truth.”

Of course, Desi Lydic did spot a bit of an undertone to Bloch’s words.

“This is the most mean girl introduction I have ever heard,” Lydic mocked, before mimicking the sentiment in an affected voice. “A lot of people think that you should be qualified to have a job, but here’s Lara Trump anyway, take it up with God!”

That said, Lydic did believe the logic of a deity approving Lara Trump’s appointment.

“I get why God would bless Donald Trump appointing his daughter-in-law. I mean, Jesus was the original nepo baby,” she joked. “Forget a job, he started an entire religion based on ‘Um, do you know who my father is?'”
