Is Donald Trump a new King David? Ask California's right-wing Sons of Liberty

HANFORD, Calif. — Before the 1776 Sons of Liberty meeting got underway at the Elks Lodge, Adam Medeiros, a hairdresser for 44 years, sat in a folding chair and referred to the Bible to explain his politics: “I don’t think I’d have liked King David,” he said. “He was an adulterer and a murderer, but God chose him to rule a nation. “

Medeiros paused and added: “I believe Donald Trump was anointed by God to save this country.”

The man across the table, Brian Gogue, a pest control advisor for farms in the Central Valley, nodded. “Sometimes,” he said, “God uses imperfect people for his perfect work.” Both men smiled. It was almost 7 p.m. Men in ball caps and jeans, including veterans and at least one pastor, filed into the lodge, where they, along with Medeiros and Gogue, stood in a circle and pledged allegiance to the flag. They prayed and the meeting commenced.

California is a stronghold of liberalism, but the Central Valley, where the scent of manure rims the highways and cattle ranchers tend winter grass, is a redoubt of conservatism. In 2008, 73.7% of Kings County — one of the state’s highest percentages — voted against same-sex marriages. Sixty-four percent of voters in Kings County, which has a population of about 153,000, voted to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, in 2021. Trump had won 55% of the county’s vote in the presidential election a year earlier.

--------------

“Love him or hate him, Trump brought results,” said Larry Faria, 47, a public safety worker and former Sons president. “The economy was strong. He didn’t get us in any wars. He’s brutally honest and speaks plainly. His abrasiveness got him elected. The Democrats have gone for too many niche issues. They forgot about the working class. ... Trump spoke to them. If he’s elected he’ll halt the immigrant invasion, cut inflation and stop sending money to other countries.”

who purposely sent a general to battle, knowing he would be killed, so he could marry his beautiful and voluptuous wife, Bathsheba, then yeah. Trump reminds me of King David.

to David to confront him with his sin, leading to David’s confession and repentance.

I don’t see any Republicans in good standing with Trump willing to confront him about anything. Needless to say, there’s not one speck of repentance in Donald Trump.

God's kinda' fucked up if he's working through the likes of Thomas, Biff and the Dipshit.

This highlights my major beef with organized religion. Go ahead, murder, rape, steal, maim, lie, cheat....? repent and it's all good!

Trump has never apologized, much less repented for a thing in his life and he never will. David was a world class jerk, but he did understand that he was and repented. It never ceases to amaze me that people use David as the archetype but conveniently leave that part out.

The thing that made him "a man after God's heart" is that whenever he was confronted w/his sins by the prophet Nathan, he earnestly repented.

This is what they never do.

In my experience pretty much all Republicans who like to pretend they are Bible-believing don't know one lick about the Bible.

They cannot come tm me w/any of that nonsense, because I actually know the Bible.

I don't suffer them whenever I encounter them w/that nonsense.

I have heard this statement or something like it before, usually from crazed whacka-doddle Christo fundies. So the ONLY way God can advance his agenda of perfection is to get Donald Trump. In a world of 7+ billion humans he couldn't find ONE SINGLE decent person to carry his message? Either God is lazy or a damn fool if that's the case.

In other words, he has the vocabulary and the speech patterns of a 4th grader or someone with a IQ of 80, and it just so happens, that same demographic is the one he most appeals to., i.e. stupid white people.

I see the RAPIST in King Herod, King Nebuchadnezzar and the rich man (as in the rich man and Lazarus). If we MUST draw comparisons, both he and David had multiple wives and screwed up children.
