I loved the beginning. Joe Biden told us the truth as he sees it. He was right at the end, with age comes knowledge, integration of history and all that one has lived. You have a colossal speech to channel FDR, from beginning to end, and also channel Reagan, and I think mentioned Lincoln at one point. He dissed TSF in the beginning, and the end. Republicans never really got off their seats, and had no room to maneuver. I suppose it was good he mentioned Lindsay, and I took it a good sign that Collins looked lost in thought. If I could read minds ... she thought it a good speech and that he was leveling with us. That's what you got with Biden. He knows so many of those people on both sides. The previous 3 Democratic presidents were not really products of Congress. Obama served their briefly, Clinton not at all, Carter not at all and he had famously little rapport on the Hill. Because of his age and long government service, Biden has the most experience of any president ever. And he was VP, and a very active one at that. I would say he's the most consequential since FDR. What a boffo speech. Republicans are reeling. They have no plan other than obstruction and tax cuts for those who need it the least. They do not govern. Hatred and retribution is not a platform, and their party is broke, and the election clock is running, and their candidate will be in court a bit. Time is their most precious element, and tick, tock.

Heck, I did the research,, may as well share it -

“Not since President Lincoln and the Civil War have freedom and democracy been under assault at home as they are today.... History is watching. If the United States walks away, it will put Ukraine at risk. Europe is at risk. The free world will be at risk, emboldening others to what they wish to do us harm.” [President Joseph Biden, State of the Union Address, March 7, 2024]

"Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this congress and this administration will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance or insignificance can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down in honor or dishonor to the latest generation We, even we here, hold the power and bear the responsibility." [president Abraham Lincoln - Annual Message to Congress, December 1, 1862]

I pass out Republi-cons Project 2025 to under 35s all day, every day.
The thought of having 10 kids or a wife who dies in childbirth has them saying; "I guess I just became a Democrat. "

How do they count the people who DVR'd it and are watching it today? People all around the world are watching the speech online.
