(6,234 posts)I'm glad he is on our side and not actively supporting the GQP agenda. He is getting unnecessary bad vibes because he compared Biden and Trump (otherism).
He will be on Biden's side until election day when push comes to shove. As the time nears to vote, I think his support will be seen and welcomed and make a difference in the final tallies.
If the truth were known, some of us would have liked to see a younger candidate with Biden's long-term political experience and savvy. But in a choice between Biden and tfg, any sane non-cultist will vote for Biden.
Nothing, no slip of the tongue, no pausing to get the right word out, no slow walking or other occasional 'gaffe' will make me see tfg as even being in the same league with Biden.
Trump is a clear and present danger to all Americans.
Biden can continue to lead this country in the right direction for all Americans.

(6,879 posts)"....in a choice between Biden and tfg, any sane non-cultist will vote for Biden." That is the political calculation that Biden's administration made when they chose to have him run again in 2024 instead of his initial pledge/plan, "4 years and retire". In 2020, I don't think they ever seriously considered Trump would even run or stand a chance of winning in 2024, but when the reality of the "chances and stakes" of a second term Trump hit home every means to bring in the votes outweighed the hope of returning to an American electoral normalcy.
I think they gave the GOP more credit than it has earned. Even going so far as to allow delaying Trump' s prosecution for actionable felonies as a token of and for the purpose of detent and space to heal a troubled democracy. Miscalculations made in the hope of a reasonable reconciliation of power politics and industrial level political crime. This is "new wave" society in a poorly oxygenated atmosphere. Dumb looks normal. We didn't evolve to thrive in this environment.

(7,306 posts)Turns out he's smart,as are most good comedians, and as a bonus he's a pretty damn good leader.
I'd take John Stewart for my Senator but not my President yet. Unlike President Zelensky, Stewart is lacking leadership skills. Some of those he can learn as a Senator. Some you just have.

(6,251 posts)After his first show, I wasn't sure if the old Jon Stewart was going to show up.
And now here he is!

(13,438 posts)Clip is from his cancelled AppleTV+ show, from March 2023, not his new Monday-only Daily Show gig.

(7,306 posts)Certainly not "bad data". The clip is from just under a year ago and neither the original poster or the DU poster presented the clip as recent. Also, even if the clip was 10 years old, it's relevant today.

Guns are the largest cause of death of children under 18. The next is Motor vehicle crashes.
I wish more Democratic politicians would talk like this - boldly, factually, to the point. This gets your attention. Enough of the my esteemed [traitorous] colleague from the wonderful state of [some shithole] . We need to forcefully call out Republican hypocrisy and hammer people with the truth.

I have no problem with right wing Christians who refuse to let their children go to dray storytelling hour at the library.
I have a HUGE problem when they start wanting to put this into law, telling the rest of us what to do.
These people need to be stopped, voted out, and relegated to their wingnut churches. They get to piss and moan, they get to picket. They do NOT get to infringe on the rights of anyone else by forcing their insane dogma into law.

We have a lot of material we can campaign on in all the races! We need to advertise on ALL channels and need to have specific ads for the particular viewership.

(23,192 posts)R's love the killing because less of us and more of them. They put their kids in pricey private schools where no one can enter without going thru screening because they know they are at risk and other kids dying is totally fine with them, so nothing gets done to stop this. Oh yeah, they also get a lot of money from gun groups, no surprise.
