called The Clash of The Modern Hells - about Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia in 1983. The professor said once that we never should take for granted that it can't happen here in the U.S. I wrote him an email back when January 6 happened. 5. The comfort I can offer is only anecdotal

We had several teenagers at work last summer and I spent some time with my nieces and nephew (19-24 years old) a few months ago. They are different, in a good way. They are tolerant and compassionate. Even those who claimed to be conservative (my nieces, ugh) are very open-minded and dare I say, liberal, on social issues. And they are pissed about income inequality.

Everything comes and goes in cycles and I think (and hope) the vitriol and hate they have witnessed while growing up is making them move in the opposite direction.

23. About the "conservative" nieces. It's symptomatic of a syndrome that's been around for about 44 years.

People generally have the same general opinions about things. They like and dislike pretty much the same things. But the things "conservatives" dislike, they've been trained to associate with "Liberals and all things liberal". Not because there is a great deal of difference between left-thinking and right-thinking people. But because of the deceitful way the conversation has been set up by Republican politicians and a complicit media.

That's where the 44 years thing comes in. It's no accident that Reagan was elected by repeating his handlers' favorite lies often enough to make them reliable "truth-speak". It was a method proven useful, if not effective, by Lenin, Stalin and liars in power since Pharoh. His rhetoric was designed to spoon feed fake patriotism and commonly believed racist talking points to a gullible general public. He totally got away with the whole scam.

So now, after some pretty outrageous history since, we have about 45% of the population programmed, like Pavlov's dogs, to shut their minds off and immerse themselves in a pre-programed hate-the-"other" fantasy when they associate people with the term "Liberal". They're not evil people, necessarily, they are just folks easily susceptible to suggestion and generational mass hypnotism, a lot like Germany's volks-Nazis. Like any pack of dogs led by a feral outlaw, they will cause harm and need to be put down. That's how wars get so popular.

Meanwhile, nieces will, hopefully, learn the wisdom of cautious speech when avowing their allies lest they find they've unwittingly joined a club with no means to exit.

They think they know the guy just from that idiotic reality TV show that he starred in, and they also think that he is some kind of business genius who can put America on a better and more prosperous course - here again, nothing could be further from the truth.

To tell you the truth, as the first Trump administration was ending, I had wild fantasies about how the law enforcement authorities would arrest Trump ad haul hi off to jail just as he left the White House - wouldn't that have been grand? Now, as we are in primary season and Benedict Donald - I really like your nickname for him - is still not behind bars, I realize that there's absolutely no other way to see this situation except as a colossal failure of our justice system. Let me tell ya - Biden needed to pick the toughest, most aggressive, no nonsense career prosecutor he could find to deal with one of the most egregious and incorrigible criminals in our nation's history.
