A moment ago.
Pretty good shaking but not long.
Anyone else?
I'll look for a link.
USGS had some data from Redondo Beach CA, which is the town next door to mine.

(9,111 posts)We've had a lot of small quake activity around the Juan de Fuca plate to the north, some NorCal rumblings along the San Andreas, that thumper in San Bernardino a few weeks ago, and quite a bit of cluster activity in the Gulf of California over the past month.
Now, Malibu is showing up as a swarm. I count four different quakes in about four minutes there.
More small quakes are better than one large one, but getting to feel a little skittish about it. A fault runs through my neighborhood, so it's like, "Y'all need to calm down."

(73,605 posts)I remember one when I was visiting my brother when he lived there. He acted like it was no big deal, and said you get used to them. I thought it was a big deal, and I'd never be able to get used to them.
Stay safe!

(3,184 posts)And can be used world wide.
I was in Bogota, Colombia during their earthquakes last August and the event showed up by the time I went to see how big they had been.
Incidentally I had the best lasagna ever in a local restaurant while waiting to be let back into the office

(640 posts)Felt a slight sway. What was interesting is that I got a quake warning on LA's MyShake app before the earthquake hit! That was pretty cool.

(353 posts)When there is an earth quake in the LA area we don't feel anything, but if it is in the San Joaquin Valley we do. And we are on the west side of the San Andreas fault.

(25,983 posts)It's been quite a while since I lived in SoCal. I miss so much about it, but quakes are not on the list - even though it's usually NBD until you start getting into the 5 pointers and up. Glad to hear it was just a shake and nothing more serious!

(3,617 posts)... that is not all that uncommon, what with an active volcano. But it was 6.2 - fairly big one. Something going on with our Teutonic Plates?

Don't ask me why, because I don't know.
