"SNIP...........
CNN reported:
Emails obtained by CNN corroborate what Chesebro told Michigan prosecutors: He communicated with the top Trump campaign lawyer, Matt Morgan, and another campaign official, Mike Roman, to ferry the documents to Washington on January 5.
From there, Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and a Pennsylvania congressman assisted in the effort to get the documents into Pences hands.
This is a high-level decision to get the Michigan and Wisconsin votes there, Chesebro told Michigan prosecutors. And they had to enlist, you know, a US senator to try to expedite it, to get it to Pence in time.
A spokesman for Sen. Johnson downplayed his involvement and said that it only amounted to a few seconds as if participating in an attempt to overthrow the United States government for just a few seconds makes the senators action less of a crime against democracy.

(8,940 posts)They contested the election and debated.
The House (D)'s did the same during the 2000 election.
But Al Gore, told the (D) Senators, not to sign on.
What Sen. Ron Johnson did, was not a part of the Constitution.
If Jack Smith has evidence of what the House & Senate (R)'s did that violated the Constitution and help in the insurrection, I'm confident he will file criminal charges.
That's how I see it. If I got anything wrong, feel free to correct me.

(8,940 posts)The request for pardons is huge, because it shows that they knew they were committing crimes and they needed protections.
But unless Jack Smith et. al. have uncovered that evidence, they will say they were just following the constitution, by objecting to the votes.
The Secret Service destroying all that evidence makes it suspicious as well.
The Cover-Up is at a grand scale.
I'm hoping they get them all.

In RoJo's case, the evil indeed started with the Scott Walker and the takeover of Wisconsin. That still exists today.

90% chance of winning too. Kind of like HRC winning the exit polls there in 2016. Our liberal media
spent its time on HRCs emails and even till today they spend the majority of their time on Trump (and Ron
Johnsons) base which is a minority of a minority of Americas population. Just like how w won 2000 & 2004 which they know was by cheating.

A great murder defense might be: it only took me a few seconds to withdraw the gun from its holster, aim, and pull the trigger, so I should be charged with a lesser crime.
I think a wonderful book which actually might be a best seller would be a fantasy novel/text wherein the thesis is what if the Republicans rewrote the constitution, and the laws which would arise therefrom. It would be both riotous and incredibly frightening.

(43,393 posts)Much of New Orleans politicians were tossed by the local Administrator of the US Army of occupation. About 13 of them, per the book "Klan War".
A US Senator was elected in South Carolina I think, and he was prevented from taking office.
But Congress didn't cleanse itself. They did pass laws over the ensuring 40 years to remove the disability of this or that group. But not to expel.

When the BIG PRIZE has been taken down, the rest of the accomplices will start worrying and maybe making deals? I just hope somebody doesn't say stop this and let our country heal. THAT would piss me off for sure. We cannot let these people able to pull this shit again.

(4,274 posts)was to be the conduit to whoever was presiding. Remember that Pence had stated in his notes back in December that he was feeling he would not take his role because of "questions" etc. We know he says he consulted Quayle about it all. It is likely that he may have expressed similar things to others and that may have stoked the hope that they could pressure him to follow through and not preside. This is where the question of Grassley comes in.
A good possibility all along was that the plan was that the phony certifications would go to Grassley and he would take the ball from there. When it comes to snakes there is no bigger one in the Senate other than Grassley. If the USDA announced a bail-out program for corn that had turned brown and died you would see Chuckie out there in the field with a spray gun attached to a big tank of brown paint.

(6,940 posts)There were Senators (and Congressmen) in the 1930's who were Nazis and worked for Hitler. Much of it was using the ir privilege of the postal frank to mail Nazi literature to their constituents, but not all. See Rachel Maddow's "Ultra" podcast for a lot more detail. https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-presents-ultra
A hundred years later, given all the steps we have taken, both forward and back (way too many back) I don't know why we should think we are immune to that form of - I'll call it "tereachery"" since the way the Constitution defines treachery, it doesn't fit. But in my mind, the word is treason.

(3,425 posts)...is a futile effort.
Trump has animated the Tribal synapses in the amygdala (brain stem) of folks who respond in the same way the ignorant and selfish have responded since our ancestors were rodents hiding underground.
These feelings are "hard wired" and can only be overcome by a fully developed prefrontal cortex. MAGATS and other loathsome racists appear to be deficient in that brain development.
Trump has convinced them that HE ALONE will save them from brown people, liberals, inelectuals, gays, and electric car drivers. Trump knew, from reading Hitler and Goebels how to leverage human fears and insecurities into a powerful political movement. The playbook has been repeated throughout history.
There is no amount of evidence or rational conversation that will change their minds. HE hates the same people that they hate.
The only way to stop this madness is to show up at the polls next November and BURY MAGA in their own rhetoric. We must make MAGA nonsense irrelevant.
If you know someone who is on the fence or apathetic (I'm talking to YOU GEN X,Y,and Z), do whatever you need to do to get them engaged in the project to save democracy!

However new evidence has implicated that Johnson was directly involved in Trumps fake electors scam.
In a recorded testimony of Chesebro before the prosecutors it appears that that Johnson of Wisconsin assisted in the effort to get the documents into Pences hands.
Johnsons involvement is a reminder that the plot was masterminded and run by the Trump campaign, but the Republican Party when faced with a choice, chose to attack instead of defend democracy!
