Just watching Nicholes now, and just wanted to say she is just so good with her guests, her smarts, and her on air demeanor.

(24,918 posts)It irritated me that she was able to project sincerity and competence to cover their policies.
But everyone can change their minds, I guess. Even me.

(1,669 posts)Part of me wonders WTF was going on in her mind when she was all in on the guy who wanted to privatize social security. I would really love to hear a full confession on how she, Steve Schmidt et al could have gone for all that nonsense.
On the other hand, she has been so LASER focused on the Poorleone crime family and their threat to the country, that I always at least watch a half hour of her show.

(4,236 posts)Maddow still suffers from the constant belaboring of points like she's talking to idiots. If we watch her show, we watch the first 5 minutes or so and come back half an hour later when she finally gets around to her point. Wallace gets to the point and asks great questions (they both do that though).

(114,220 posts)she weaves even the most arcane and seemingly unconnected information and history into a cohesive, contemporary whole. I realize that her style is not to everyone's taste, but I am fine with it.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess!
I honestly can't remember ever losing interest in anything Rachel has had to say or feeling like she was taking too long to get to the point. But then, I guess I'm into the kind of minutiae she likes to delve into.

(1,669 posts)But I do sometimes enjoy Rachel's trip into history. Sometimes it takes me back to when I was a kid and she probably wasn't even born.

(10,166 posts)She seems to be able to genuinely relate with everyone, as long as they are sincere and don't try to bullshit her, but fortunately she rarely features those kind of guests. She is so good at cutting right to the chase, both intellectually and emotionally. I often wonder how she does it! It's hard to believe she was ever a professional Republican!

(48,827 posts)Excellent interviewing skills, is able to identify the most salient points of an issue,
is a natural in front of the camera.
Nicole is warm, friendly, laid back, but the consummate professional
and very very bright.
I like Rachel but like most PhDs she can be a bit pedantic and goes the long way around
the barn, instead of just cutting to the chase. But that is the training in a PhD program.

(6,695 posts)She gives a platform for many under-covered topics: gun violence, our democracy, mental health, women's rights, and so many more. She makes the news personal by bringing in people like Harry Dunn, Mash Alinejad, Fred Guttenburg, Igor Novikov, and many more. She asks brilliant questions and lets her guests speak without interruption. She is actually atoning for her previous Republican work.
Respect and appreciation!
Thank you.

(15,311 posts)She asks pointed and incisive follow up questions when she interviews.
But she is doing so much fearmongering lately, I've been tuning her out more often.
Maddow's opening monologues can sometimes be tedious, but I like how she reaches back into history for perspective on current events.
