Yes, there have been peoples who "went" under various circumstances. Not sure I'd call that "entirely practical". David__77 Oct 2023 #9

She should use her influence with her husband the king to allow Palestinian refugees into Jordan.

But maybe she’s the only Palestinian allowed to live there.

There was an assassination attempts against the king and government officials.

The problem with Palestinians is four/five generations of angry, rudderless young men and two/three generations of cynical old men who don't care if the world burns so long as they can hit back at those they feel have betrayed them. And refugee camps tend to breed a particular type of angry young person who is easy to radicalize as they crave some meaning, some usefulness in their lives.
If, for safety, you still take in only the women, children, and elderly, you will still have the threat of radicalization and incipient terror or criminal cells among the teens with no employment or future, and the older men looking for weapons they can use to get to a better position in life.
That's why Jordan and Egypt don't want refugees from Gaza or the West Bank. They barely have enough employment to keep their own young radicals in check. Especially since there's a strong familial based culture that benefits even the most useless cousin, nephew or family friend over a talented stranger when looking to hire or give opportunities to.

Of its choice ! Why does the USA not let them in? This argument never made sense. Just demanding other countries take an entire other population because they are the same religion.

But if their policy is going to be to not allow Palestinians, as voiced by their king, then perhaps their queen should look closer to home while searching for solutions.

And you’re reading a whole into what I wrote that isn’t actually there. I never mentioned religion because that isn’t even an issue to me as it relates to where the Palestinians go.

It’s about the hypocrisy - if a country is going to complain about other countries not doing anything, then perhaps they should be willing to do something themselves.

If my family and I were in imminent mortal danger and there was a place where we could go where we would be safe - I would go. My children and my family are first and foremost to me. My new "homeland" is where I feel safe. (It's actually Brooklyn)

I do know that my grandparents come to the US, leaving their homeland in order to be safe.
