Go fill yor gas tanks right now. The price of gas will go nowhwere but up. Whether it's justified or not, The oil companies will use it as an excuse to raise prices.

(12,485 posts)If it's to stabilize pricing, sure.
But if it's to provide oil if/when some catastrophe drastically cuts off oil supply... then no.

(36,747 posts)It will get a lot of the unnecessary SUVs and trucks off the road and thus lessen CO2 emissions.
It will basically be like gasoline rationing, which is a good thing.

(24,330 posts)the price of just about everything follows the price of gas. Almost all the products we buy and all the food we eat is transported with fossil fuels.

(36,747 posts)Most trucking runs on diesel.
$7 will get a lot of vehicles off the road. Thats good for the planet.
$7 will happen only if Israel bombs Iran and Iran responds.
Mr.Bill
(24,330 posts)They are both fossil fuels and their price somewhat follows each other. Diesel will go up, too.
And while I agree less vehicles off the road is a good thing in the long run, but it won't be good for it to happen quickly. Also at 70 years old I have watched gas go from .19 to 5.69 today where I live. In the long run, it has never reduced the amount of vehicles on the road. It has, however produced cars that get far better gas mileage, but a look at traffic on the road tells me many people don't really care how much gas mileage they get.

(42,776 posts)The price of gas has dropped here in Northern Virginia over the past week. Lower today than yesterday, in fact.
The price of a barrel of West Texas Crude is almost three dollars LESS than it was on Monday. It is nearly $10 less than it was on September 27.
Apparently there was somewhere other than up for the price to go.
Mr.Bill
(24,330 posts)The price has remained steady here, which in my experience is a first for when there is trouble in the middle east. If it spreads further to the oil producing countries, it will surely go up. Hopefully that won't happen.

(82,383 posts)something to point out, that Republicans have nothing but higher gas prices, and that whining about those should be off limits when people are getting bombed and dying, including children.
And when they claim it is Biden's fault, ask them why we are responsible for what Hamas does. Or why Biden is.
