The GOP's New Trump Standard: You Can Only Prosecute Him In Red Areas

Now the GOP, under the orange man's thumb, have gone completely off the cliff. Bonkers! Cuckoo! Insane! Trump is not only asking the Supreme Court get involved(not their job), he and his sycophant mouthpieces in Congress are demanding a change of venue. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

Source: Huff Post

Former President Donald Trump and his allies have responded to his latest criminal case by arguing for a change of trial venue from Washington, D.C., to West Virginia, claiming without evidence that the potential jury pool and the judge overseeing the matter can’t be impartial.

“The latest Fake ‘case’ brought by Crooked Joe Biden & Deranged Jack Smith will hopefully be moved to an impartial Venue, such as the politically unbiased nearby State of West Virginia!” Trump wrote Wednesday on his Truth Social website, referring to the Democratic president and the Justice Department special counsel.

“IMPOSSIBLE to get a fair trial in Washington, D.C., which is over 95% anti-Trump, & for which I have called for a Federal TAKEOVER in order to bring our Capital back to Greatness,” he added.

in a MAGA hat shouldn't be seated.

Not that it'll work, but they aren't the best lawyers.

There are two separate issues: 1. Whether the case was properly venued in D.C. in the first place - and it was, of course, because federal crimes are required to be tried in the district where the alleged crime(s) occurred; and 2. whether the defendant can get a fair trial in that district. TFG, a racist to the core, assumes that he can't get a fair trial (and in his mind, the only "fair" trial is one that results in an acquittal) because it's likely that there will be some Black people on the jury. And, because he's a racist, he also assumes that Black people are incapable of rendering a just verdict on the basis of the evidence and the judge's instructions. Because he's a transactional and vengeful racist, he believes that his overt animus toward Black and other minority people means those people, if on his jury, would inevitably seek revenge against him by finding him guilty. On the other hand, he believes that "his" people in WVA would render the only possible "fair" verdict and acquit him - meaning they would also ignore the evidence and the judge's instructions. So he manages to insult them, too.

There's absolutely no chance he'll get a change of venue (of course not; the judge is a Black immigrant woman appointed by Black Obama!) - all of this is just red meat for his racist base.

Is to not be a traitor who tries to overthrow the government and install himself as a de-facto dictator by helping foment a terrorist attack upon the Congress.

Then you wouldn't be on trial to begin with.*

* - Well, not on trial for the insurrection anyway. But you need to not commit other crimes either lol
