General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am done with Daily Kos! Their censorship is ridiculous,
You cant use words like MAGAt anymore because to many holier than thou members are hellbent on taking the high road and reporting that as a word thats worse than the f word (which theyre fine with). Going high when they go low didnt work in 2016 and it wont work now. Giving people temporary bans for the word MAGAt is takin this high road thing way to far. They need grow a pair or hire new mods, I will not be polite about MAGAts MAGAts MAGAts for no one!

(2,910 posts)I gave up on them in 2017 when Kos was delighted that West Virginians were suffering elevated levels of disease.
This is why so many people gave up on the Big D: contempt for the working class. West Virginia is one of the poorest places in the country. Many of them do hard, dangerous work just to scrabble by. Instead of spite, we should try to win them over, and lance the limousine liberal image.
And yes, the High Road is the road to perdition. Give the reich wing hell. But spare the elevated noses.

(58,785 posts)are working class? You aren't imagining the 81M Democrats who elected Biden don't have to work for a living, are all despised and resented "elites" are you?
From discussions here, I assume a plurality of DUers are actually working class liberals who dependably vote Democratic because they believe in the rightness of what they want for our nation and themselves.
Btw, we busted our butts trying to win over WV's voters in 2016. Have you forgotten? Seriously, how could you not remember that?
Democrats spent years and millions of dollars on studies and development of comprehensive programs to bring good jobs, hospitals, etc, to permanently raise the wellbeing of the entire state. We had big plans, New Deal-type big plans. Our candidates and activists took them to the top of the mountain and showed them the futures they and their children could have.
But WV is a very conservative state whose conservatives overall much preferred tRump, some of whom literally and passionately chose continued poverty for themselves over good jobs and a path to the middle working class, and higher.
And not just WV.
Blaming Democrats for their (or anyone's) hostile factionalism and ideologies that require rejecting truth about us is not realistic.

(9,500 posts)Ie. no use of the terms "Democrat Party" or "Libtard" or "Lets go Brandon". I can respect rules like that IF they are truly trying to make it an environment for civil discussion.

Must be SOMETHING offensive there.

(102,369 posts)So... to each their own, I guess. But, MAGATs is merely the self-identified acronym for "Make America Great Again Trumpists." It isn't our fault it has an unfortunate phonetic meaning. No more than the fact the Tea Party idiots wearing teabags had to face a similar unfortunate meaning.

Sky Jewels
(7,139 posts)just had me rolling my eyes. It's utterly ridiculous. We're in the fight of our lives, in terms of climate change, women's reproductive rights, and fascism/democracy destruction, and these holier-than-thou a-holes are wasting time and energy scolding progressives about what words they use in regards to Republican-Taliban-Nazis. Fuck that.

(10,839 posts)Used the word MAGAt in a response and yes, it was an immediate pounce for demeaning language of others, how we need to be above the fray, yada, yada.
Irritating? Yes. Particularly when you consider the language and constant screeds coming from the right-wing crazies.
But Kos gets a pass from me largely for their outstanding coverage of all things Ukraine. I check their coverage every day. As someone who infrequently posts at Kos, I'm willing to leave the term MAGAt at the door and observe the rules of the road sort of thing.
However, I understand your frustration. For instance, I admire Michelle Obama's sentiment: when they go low, we go high.
Wish that was the world were living in right now. It's just not.

(980 posts)That Stella Magz youtube channel will never be featured there. Her slogan is, "When they go low, I go lower." She is simply priceless. A real New Yorker woman, whose statements are most close to mine.

I was momentarily upset, but honestly, it worked out quite well for me.
I sure don't miss it, especially the mangling of science there.

(58,785 posts)against "Republicans" that looks exactly like RW hatemongering against "Democrats, that sounds like a good thing.
Kos of course draws a fair portion of people who've been swept up in this era's extremism and factional hostilities and prefer the satisfactions of the mob to the grim responsibilities everyone else have to somehow get us back to something like normal.
