And they know it.

Vicariously living through Trump, they had the illusion they were in charge.

They are always in fear and anger. That's what triggers them. Everything is unfair for them. You have to be drawn to that kind of emotion to be a republican nowadays.

Went to Florida or Georgia or Texas to get rich

Resent the government because the payroll tax and workers comp and regulation are keeping him from making real money like the big boys.

Complains bitterly that employee wages are bleeding him dry while leaning on his new Dodge Ram pickup that he's using to tow his boat.

Grew up idolizing Donald Trump. Loves the idea that he trades out for a new model wife every 15 years. Thinks Donald Trump supports Christian values.

Says he'd have moved to Mexico if Hillary Clinton had been elected. Loves going to Cabo every chance he gets. Fully supports a border wall and wants every Mexican in America shipped back. By Mexican, he means anyone who speaks Spanish.

Must be a West Coast thing to go to Cabo but the Southeastern MAGAs would NEVER go to Mexico (well, except Cruz). If they're monied, they go to Florida/Bahamas/Jamaica. If really monied they do the Limbaugh thing and go to Cuba, Paris, wherever they pretend to hate in public but vacation at in private.

Almost all of them consider themselves to be good working people but they have gotten nowhere in life or their status in life is threatened with imminent loss because the 1%ers have used lies and fearmongering to shift blame away from themselves to a host of people on the left. For MAGA, it’s easier to process blame among people they see every day rather than the real perpetrators squirreled away in their gated estates and penthouse suites, never to be seen by the common folk.

Skin made them essentially better than other people no matter how stupid, poor, uneducated, or foul they are. They were taught they were moral just because they believed in Christ and not because of any action they've done sans handing over cash to conartists. It's painfully obvious to them, this magic world is going away and they hate it.

And being a victim is a powerful persona. Once you convince yourself you are a victim and you anger is righteous, anything contradicting that is an assault on your very existence. After a while there is no other core person...just anger and resentment inhabiting a shell
It's very hard to come back from that

to weaponize and direct them politically is a terrible, terrible crime against them as people.

Further, with repetition, the brain helpfully develops routine pathways that interpret information to negate positives and come to negative conclusions.

Victims are helping train themselves to be habitually unhappy and resentful.

We see the results all over, not just on the right. How would people come back from that?

Dreadful.

mad about social change, loss of status and especially about perceived loss of his "way of life and values." He loved Nixon, was prejudiced against everyone. He would certainly love Trump. Norman Lear based Archie on his own father to some extent. Keep in mind that many who were similar to Archie loved Archie.
Guys like Archie are the key audience for DeSantis as well.
