I have a very important video I'd like you all to watch.

I'm the parent of a trans child 🏳️?⚧️
What's happening across this country right now is incredibly scary shit. The right is literally trying to legislate out the existence of my kiddo & every other trans person in this country.

I know that the demographic here on DU skews older, likely much older than I am but we need your help badly. There isn't much posted here on DU about the harm being done to trans people & others in the LGBTQIA community which I find surprising & has lead me to the ask the question "how many know what's really happening"?

Just now I was given this video on Twitter.
It is one of the most important videos I've seen in some time.
The author of the video goes by "Second Thought" on YouTube & in this video he breaks down the connection between the rise of American fascism, the "groomer panic" & Nazi Germany.

Where he breaks it down comes at the 20:10 mark though I encourage everyone to watch the entire video.

Please get involved in supporting the rights of trans people if you're not already. How many know trans people were targeted by Nazi Germany & many perished in the Holocaust?

Trying to accomplish. They won't stop until they have erased all that doesn't fit in their narrative. They think they won on women's reproductive rights. Now they are going after trans rights.
I'm the mom of a gay adult child. I'm worried about my daughter's marriage rights. I know that will be next if we do not fight them now and stand up for for trans rights.

My city came out immediately to assure trans people they are safe here.

6. Your last line is so true

My father went from an FDR Democrat and union man who loved and accepted his grandaughter to a racist bigoted trump supporter after he retired. He spent his days watching fox news and died a lonely man. His children and grandchildren still loved him but could no longer tolerate his hate. For our own sanity we had to keep our distance.

8. The description of the Nazi attitude about

gender and sexuality reminded me of attitudes in the US in the 1950s and 1960s when Freudian psychology was accepted as absolute and unquestionable. It was taught in psych classes in colleges. Even in junior and senior high school, some of our courses had short units on psychology and we were taught the Freudian model of human development and gender identity. Anything outside of that model was "deviant" and a sign of mental illness.

Social attitudes and roles were pretty rigid then. Teachers were expected to guide students away from "deviant" behavior and toward "normal" behavior. Acceptable sports for girls were swimming, volleyball, badminton, and tennis. For boys it was baseball, basketball, football, track, tennis, and swimming. For the boy's sports, girls were supposed to be cheerleaders or spectators.

For electives, everyone could take music and art. But only girls could take sewing and cooking. Only boys could take drafting and woodworking.

Wexl were raised to believe in a binary world of male/female and normal/deviant.

The haters are concentrating on the trans community right now, but I'm sure they're planning to come for the rest of the LGBTQ+ community before long. I support all of that community/those communities (depending on how you choose to define "community&quot with all of my heart and want to help in any way I can.
