I'm a one trick pony. I care only about one thing. It's getting people to vote. Therefore,

it is my opinion, an uneducated one, that not paying our bills and allowing default, would be the sledge hammer to the skulls of those shoulder-shruggers who think it’s cute not to vote.

Call me crazy.

... we need to reverse the high number of unopposed GOP candidates and treat each and every election like it's a recall on right to vote.

6. Here in WI in the 2010 midterms, Democrats controlled state government.

Unfortunately, too many on the Left just weren't motivated to get out and vote while Republicans voted like it was their duty. So in 1 election, the state flipped from total Democratic control to total Republican control. Since 2010 was a census year that meant they got to gerrymander the state when they took power in 2011 and they still control the legislature with a near veto proof super majority.

When the Left chooses to self suppress their vote, bad things happen.

People don't vote for a variety of reasons. Many of them are apolitical. Many of them are in the "both sides are bad" crowd. They're just as likely to blame Democrats as Republicans, perhaps more so. Other non-voters will likely just blame the generic "government" rather than place the blame where it belongs, on the GOP.

the apathy of those who do not bother to vote. But by golly take away mom’s social security and toss her support to the kiddies gets everybody’s attention. At this point in history nothing has worked. I understand the repercussion argument- but Dem always blink don’t they?
Either the Dems hoist McCarthy up on a petard for or someone loses.

Since you don't seem to care about how this will affect other people, you must be in a great situation to survive.

13. The trick is getting the "sometimers" to vote more consistently.

When the people who vote some or most of the time actually show up, we do very well. The trick is getting them to do that every time, including midterms.

I don't agree with letting the US default to make political points. If it does happens, we need to get the message across that it's entirely on the GOP, as it always is. Polls seem to indicate that they'll take much of the blame, so we'll see if that's more important to McCarthy in the end than kissing Trump's ass.

Action and have spent hours and hours registering people to vote. Contact info is copied, and then we phone bank the days before and day of, the election. Tim Ryan lost because turnout was
miserable.
I think I’m depressed.

If you don't like either the Democrat or the Republican candidate, then it's only rational to vote for the lesser of the 2 perceived evils. For over 50 years now that has been easy for me: I always vote for the Democratic candidate.
