I didn't see a reason given by Peters, solidly liberal, in the New Dem Coalition, but he'd issued a statement of opposition to the Republican plan.

I don't get it.

I do realize that the House Republicans are on their own wavelength, but this thing is gonna get bounced from the Senate in record time.

Considering how much "bipartisan" was supposed to be all the rage in the last Congress, nobody seems to be concerned that this "major" legislation was passed without any Democratic votes. But that's in keeping with the narrative: Democrats can't govern without the consent of at least one Republican, but when they're in the majority, Republicans can do whatever they want.
