(6,921 posts)I'm 77. Through a large part of my life red was associated with left wing and blue with right wing. (Don't get me wrong - the right already was vulnerable to attracing traitors - because follow the money. Ever read, or seen the movie, "Tha Tamarind Seed"? The right wing traitor in that used the handle "True Blue" - which is how they caught him. That was set in the UK but did apply here as well.)
Then there was a brief period whan the mainstream media alternated the colors each Presidential election year. And just about the time Republicans were starting to play serious footsie with Vlad (and get serious money for it), the right became permanently associated with red and the left with blue.
I have often found that ironic.
