Marc Elias: sycophants

I hope that everyone reading the 1/6 committee transcripts now realizes there was no "team normal" in the Trump White House. With strikingly few exceptions, there were immoral sycophants and deranged sycophants.

Even before the 2020 election - and definitely after it - Chump fired and replaced anyone who didn't go along with his Big Lie. Don't we know that already? The warning signs were all there.

Just like the best university. The best steaks. The best casinos. As long as it funnels cash or prostration praise unto his majesty it's "the best".

He knows what he's doing and has enough evidence to make all those charges. Since you admit to having hopes, I'ma work to get them up. 'Tis the season of hope.

He handled domestic violence and sex crimes as Asst. DA in Manhattan.
In the DOJ's Public Integrity Section he prosecuted a variety of corruption cases
-- Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell,
-- U.S. Representative Rick Renzi,
-- New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, and
-- Jeffrey Sterling, a CIA agent.

In the Hague, Kosovo’s ex-president Hashim Thaci sits detained in jail because Jack Smith's aggressive effort to win back reluctant witnesses—by targeting the tight-lipped politicians and militant nationalists who had kept them silent. Smith had to defend his work from widespread accusations that he was conducting an unfair political prosecution to remove the nation’s favorite leader. And the narrative was that cooperators are traitors—and that these lawyers like Smith were trying to destroy the country.

We're talking high profile, political cases. Not small fry. Not low hanging fruit.

I came by this by reading. If you look at the sheer volume of what the DOJ prosecutes every day, you'll see that our biggest law firm on the planet is beyond badass.

It exists until March, if he needs it. In the meantime, I'm goin' out on a limb to say that Hold My Beer Smith starts indictments before then, sometime after President Biden's State of the Union address.

The Pooty Caucus gets indicted and Republicans lose the House majority and the resulting special elections give Democrats the majority again. (Pretty sure there are enough Putineers in the House to swing the majority, if there are enough patriots to kick them out after indictment).

[ Edit to add: damn! Now it's not a secret. ]
