While I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a “reliable red” district (we have had Democrats elected there in past years), it had been a GOP stronghold under Jaime Herrera Butler, until the latter joined with Liz Cheney in voting to impeach Trump over J6. Such a “betrayal” brought about a primary challenge from MAGA Kent, and he won an ultra-narrow victory back in August. If Repugs had stayed with the incumbent, they would almost certainly have won…but “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”

Joke, Kent versus Marie summarizes. What the entire 2022 election was about. Do we choose fascism or do we choose democracy? Marie proved that the voters of a very red district not leaning red, but 100% red because of gerrymandering elected a democrat for Congress.
I’ve talked to Marie a number of times she’s a great person and her heart is 100% in this. She had the strategy that she would basically promote Joe Kent against Jamie Butler Herrera because she thought it would be easier to beat Joe Kent. Caroline Long (tried twice to be Jamie Butler Herrera, earning DNC money, earning Emilys list money, earning all sorts of money and she could not flip it. Caroline long is a smart lady, but she couldn’t flip it.

MPG is the next John Fetterman. She is so genuine and I think this is the model to replicate going forward. It’s not AIC everywhere. Talk to your audience
