What on earth is going on with voters in New York? New York used to be so progressive and now

rethugs are winning. I can sleep good tonight and am glad I did not allow the media to influence my thinking. I kept saying that this was not a normal year and there is no way Dems will lose lots of seats as per past status quo. Yes, Dems lost some good seats but they gained some good ones and I am delighted that the disparity for House and Senate Control is minimal. I am still optimistic that Dems will take control.

Good work Democrats and DU. Congratulations and kudos for democracy.

I really don't know if main stream New Yorkers voted rethug especially after the redistricting. It worked out well for Florida though. Thought for sure that Desantis would lose, guess the Latino voters have changed course, One would think that after Destantis bussed their own people in such a callous way, they would have voted for the Dem Rep. Glad that Dems still holding strong.

Trump was winning Nassau County at first but Biden ended up winning it 54-44. It's not looking good in some of the House races here, including my own district, but I'm wondering if they have not been called because of that red mirage.

Hopefully Democrats there can push to change the law or something to prevent that from happening again and maybe the districts can be redrawn afterwards (I don't know if that would be allowed or not, though).

my mind is how rethugs get away with that re Florida. Why isn't Dems doing the same redistricting to get more votes when they are in power? This two party system is bs and needs to go. The US is so diverse and only one party look out for the middle and working class, how the hell the party that gives tax cuts to millionaires is still popular?

About a red wave. We can take heart even with some tough losses, that their gerrymandering, did not work as well as they thought it would.

despicable and they call themselves Christians. I hope veterans are waking up and seeing how they are two faced. I tuned off CNN and MSNBC for about two weeks leading up to the mid-terms. I just could not stand those arm chair pundits, Glad I did and I am so happy for the outcome of the mid-terms. Would have preferred Dems to get more Seats though.

I live in NJ, and that's one of the biggest gripes here. I'm sure California and NY feel the same resentment.

We bail out Florida, Kentucky, West Virginia and a bunch of other Red States for decades. They are never able to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and are perpetual moochers. It gets tiring giving away money that could build our own infrastructures only to have ungrateful states fuck the country over year after year. We have no problem sending money for disasters, but got fucked over with Sandy when we finally asked for some.

Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul and other fucks purposely keep their states dependent on taxpayer socialism from other states to 'bring home the bacon' and that's what gets them reelected. They sell out their entire state to keep their grifting jobs going. Two jobs fucks over a million.

This will never change because there are more Red States wanting to mooch than Blue States who want to limit their sponging.

After a while, the chronic bleeding starts to drive the self-affecting evil that plagues the Republican party.

Just my two cents.

red States? Isn't every State responsible for their own finances. Even if New Yorkers are tired of helping other States, why voting rethug is a solution? All I know is if there is a natural disaster, the Federal Government steps in with financial support.

blue states well beyond disaster recovery. Or maybe better stated, they spend more federal funds than they put into the federal coffers. Infrastructure, manufacturing, Medicaid/Medicare, unemployment, and welfare… they disproportionately use federal monies.

Some states such as ny and nj give more in fed taxes than they get back. Aid for Sandy was voted down by many r but eventually with pressure from ny and nj it passed. The state senate gained a dem super majority in 2021.
