Dallas Morning News endorsed Greg Abbott

I just called them and canceled my subscription. I told them why.
They said “we offer all of these things that aren’t political” and I told them the Fort Worth Star Telegram does as well and they don’t support Abbott.
I recommended that they reach out to their conservative audience for support.
The only voice I have is my vote and my dollar. I try to use them both to my advantage.

That really sucks.

We're having trouble with our ground game here in Austin.

I just met two women (on my morning walk) who want to
carpool people to the polls, but none of the campaign
orgs have gotten back to them, not Beto's, not Travis County.

That sucks too.

As I always talk about here in Meadows Cawthorn country I stay in the woods playing with my dogs to stay away from ass holery.
But I needed to replace my mail box just now. So instead of going to Corporate Lowes, thought I would help a local hardware business. A pretty good size store that Carry’s most anything ya need. And Lowes gives all vets a 10 percent on everything for vets.
Grabbed the box and stuck on numbers and went to check out. Asked about vets discount, got a pretty stern NO. As it was being rung up, there were two employees behind the counter and U heard one of em say something about do a “Pelosi”. The other was holding a Hammer. Big Jesus area and White paradise. I told the cashier and others, Fuck you bloated traitorous trump ass leaches. Can’t believe I ever served this shit hole country for ignorant pricks like you all.
Walked out, sure they could care less. Really starting to hate this God Damned country.
End rant, getting the dogs and stomping up the mountains behind my house to relieve some hate.
Fuck all GQP.

Dallas had The Morning News and the afternoon Times Herald. President Kennedy told a Times Herald reporter that he thought that people were glad when the afternoon came.

I agree with you on not giving my dollars to a company which is supporting the party that is actively trying to end democracy in the US, I really don't care if they have the best recipe for chili on page 47.

How many quarters has Dallas News Corp reported a loss now? 6...8...?

The stock is trading at 1/10th of what it was 8 years ago.

Moves like endorsing that shitheel Abbott are only going to hasten its demise.

The Marietta Times has people handing out free papers once in awhile, and after I had canceled, one of them offered me a paper. I said no. He said "It's free." I said "The paper endorsed bush for a 2nd term." He said, "You have to support somebody." I said, "I won't read that paper again." And I haven't. I can get obits from another source.

That any newspaper would endorse any rw, especially one as cruel as abbott is, isn't worth the paper it is printed on or the broadband it uses.

49. Even AFTER they said the following...
Wed Nov 2, 2022, 11:29 PM
Nov 2022

"This is not an unreserved recommendation. The Republican Party of Texas that Abbott leads has become a deeply troubled organization where conspiracy theories, election denial and blind partisanship have taken root. Many of its leaders have no intention of governing broadly, but rather holding onto a narrow majority as a path to power.

Abbott is not untouched by this, though he has not wholly embraced the aggressively partisan rhetoric that defines other top elected Republican officials in Texas. He has, however, changed in his years in office and has been pulled from the pro-business moderate he once was into a far more strident leader. He has become more insular, meeting less often with a broad group of business leaders, for example, who could offer him insights that would be valuable to maintaining our growth and prosperity.

If he continues down the road he’s on and follows the worst elements of his party, it will be dangerous for the state. Business leaders across the country are looking at how Abbott and Texas Republicans have led on abortion and guns, and some are taking pause.

A majority of Texans do not agree with the near absolute ban on abortion that Abbott has supported."

A 2011 report spelled out what needed to be done, but Repukes like Abbott just dropped it in the trash.

The 2021 cold snap and power outage for five days killed some 700 people including those who died from CO inhalation.

But, boy howdy, did the companies and natural gas providers do well. They made multi-billions . . . and funneled the money right back into Abbott's re-election fund.
