(13,535 posts)You can control your feed. If I see more trolls than I used to, and it makes it unusable or a chaotic mess... I'll drop it. But as an aggregate of information (I follow non profit feeds, news feeds, and education feeds), it's quite useful for me.

(42,770 posts)Just in case we needed to change. If Dingbat comes back it's not like you have see his posts you can just block or not follow. But the entity as a whole is sullied.

(26,719 posts)I'll decide what to do based on how things eventually shape up under Musk.
It's very toxic already in terms of trolls, and could get much worse. I could also see the administration becoming far more arbitrary, and favoring certain views over others.
Waiting to see, and wondering about potential alternatives.

(42,770 posts)The people you want to follow and not the rest.
Crunchy Frog
(26,719 posts)I block or mute almost all of them as soon as I see them, but with some of the people I follow a majority of the replies will be from trolls. If I want to read an actual discussion, I have to spend most of it zapping trolls, and there's always more of them.
The Russian troll factories are obviously really busy right now.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)Anyone who doesn't block them out. Because those people would never communicate with you directly then could see how the effort would feel too much.
Crunchy Frog
(26,719 posts)Some of the otherwise best posters don't seem to do much blocking, so you can imagine that Russian trolls are all over them.
I've probably got a few thousand accounts muted by now.

(4,922 posts)There is no good alternative right now, so I'm stuck. But if it gets too screwed up for the traders, they will probably move en masse to whatever viable alternative is available. Can't think of one right now.
I hate being captive to another mad man.

(25,811 posts)Media will still use it. It's a great source for breaking news and this will probably continue.
I rarely post on twitter. I also rarely "browse" on twitter.

(21,175 posts)What change in policy will change your Twitter usage? is more apt.
Ownership is a trivial consideration unless and until they impose a policy change.

(12,699 posts)He's made statements for the effect that he's not going to allow Twitter to remain a "hot mess" of garbage posts. He's also talked about subscription tiers of usage, especially for "blue checks", to continue to post.
He doesn't understand the economics of a social Media. For a trust fund man-baby 'tech bro' he really does not have clue one about how real (and admittedly not so real) people think and act.
Twitter will go the way of MySpace, only quicker. No wonder he fired the Twitter execs who actually knew how the platform worked.

(8,351 posts)Social media is fairly toxic regardless of who runs the platform. If I stop or reduce my social media usage, it will because I think social media is more negative in its effects generally than not. Not because of the business structure or rules.

(5,164 posts)I have been on twitter for a long time, but I have not used it for years and hardly every read anything there unless it is posted here or sometimes in an article. It did help me out once in a situation. M is a nutso, narcissist. I guess we will see what happens there. I doubt me still being there makes any difference since I don't use it anymore and hardly ever used it at all. But I guess it would be good if there was an alternative if he lets unowho back on there. 😩 I will not pay to be on there, that is for sure 😹

(14,151 posts)I dont think liberals should abandon Twitter to the nutjobs. Twitter is a big part of the zeitgeist and if liberals leave, that window will move to the right and infect the minds of non-political Twitter users.
