Anybody hearing the deceptive ads on XM Radio regarding lowering drug prices?

I was listening to XM while mowing the lawn and I hear an ad paid for by Pharma.com describing the ongoing research for diseases such as Alzheimer's and cancer and how much of that research will cease if Congress is allowed to pass legislation lowering drug prices. RUFKM? Maybe you've all heard these ads but this was new for me. Big pharma basically blackmailing people into accepting outrageous drug prices in exchange for research to cure diseases that have ruined millions lives. Deplorable.

Here's an article about the ads running in NV: https://rollcall.com/2022/07/29/groups-launch-last-ditch-effort-against-drug-pricing-changes/

I haven't heard the ads on terrestrial radio, yet. Maybe the passage of the IRA will make this go away.

They're actually threatening people. Deplorable is putting it mildly.

I don't watch much tv and I don't listen to regular radio so it blindsided me. You're correct...they are threatening people.

My husband laughed out loud when he saw one of them. He said there was zero chance they would stop developing new drugs for the market. Money money money people. Big Pharma is the worst ever!

Not perfect but pretty good at cancelling the mower’s noise. I had regular air pods but these are much better.

https://www.biospace.com/article/ceo-salaries-for-the-top-pharma-companies-by-market-cap/

Executives at pharmaceutical companies are known for receiving large salaries. When bonuses and stock options are factored into the picture, their annual compensation can jump into the range of tens of millions of dollars, like Pfizer’s Albert Bourla, Alex Gorsky from Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca’s Pascal Soriot.

Over the past several weeks, life sciences and biopharma companies have been filing year-end reports that include the total compensation for CEOs and other members of the executive teams received for 2020. As BioSpace reported earlier this month, CEOs of companies that have developed vaccines for the COVID-19 pandemic saw boosts in their annual compensation.

The bulk of the increases have come in the form of bonuses and stock options. For example, Ugur Sahin, CEO of Germany’s BioNTech, earned the majority of his $7.4 million compensation through stock options. Sahin is the sole shareholder of a German firm that controls an 18% stake in BioNTech.

After the vaccine developed by his company and Pfizer was authorized across the globe against COVID-19, Sahin became one of the world’s 500 richest people in the world. Sahin’s net worth increased to $5.1 billion after inking a developmental deal with Pfizer and vaccine distribution deals, making him the 493rd-richest person on the planet.

I’m not surprised and that’s exactly why we need lower drug prices. This is out of control.

those poor Pharma companies just can't make ends meet, you know. Charging less for drugs will certainly drive them out of business.
