The "coup" never stopped.

It goes on even as we speak.

There was a short interval where it appeared to be defeated and embarrassed, but that lasted no longer than it took Kevin McCarthy to go down to Mar-a-Lago and kiss the ring of the Leader of the Coup. Since then, the efforts have continued in their attempts to overthrow the last election and to put Trump back into the White House. The efforts never ceased.

The coup continues today. It did not end with the election of Joe Biden. He is still illegitimate in the eyes of many Republicans and coup supporters.

In fact, it would not be surprising, if the Republicans win back the House this November, to see them attempt once again to get a few selected states to overturn Biden's electoral victories and attempt to put their Leader back in power before the next election in 2024.

I won’t be at all surprised. The lack of accountability is going to translate into lower Democratic turnout, and months and years of stupid speculation as to what went wrong.

refuses to see this is puzzling. Continued delay in hearings and prosecution will lose many voters when the goal is to GOTV. Sometimes it seems they don't want to win elections.

Perhaps the dimmest deplorable won’t wake up to what’s going on, but everyone who cares about the Constitution will grok.

Republicans held 33 hearings on Benghazi and Hillary testified in public for 11 hours. Where are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer?

Still waiting on Merrick Garland and Kristen Clarke 16 months in.

The Republican party was complicit in the insurrection and yet not one member of the Putin party has been investigated. Who authorized the Capitol tours to traitors? Who disabled the panic buttons? Why is a member of the Federalist Society the head of the FBI?

I am told the answer is GOTV, well I voted, will be in the mail tomorrow, then all will be just fine.

an AG under Trump, appoints a special prosecutor, John Durham, to investigate the Russian investigation, designed basically to dig up dirt on the Bidens. AG Barr even puts in guard rails so that Durham can't be fired. Taxpayers are funding a partisan, political witch hunt.

An AG, under Biden, goes out of his way to not be partisan, which is being partisan. Why didn't Garland appoint a special prosecutor with guard rails, to investigate a freaking insurrection led by the president of the United States?

It is coming, autocracy is coming, it is banging on the door of democracy. When it knocks the door down, it is staying for generations to come.

Instead of worrying about they the DOJ looks to the GZP the DOJ should just do their jobs !!!

They don't care if they look partisan to dems, DOJ must be loaded with MAGA seeing they're still investigating Hunter Biden with no probable cause to do so.

When it knocks the door down, it is staying for generations to come.

Yep, DOJ should ask Spain how after 1937 failed coup then civil war then 2-3 generations of a dictator worked out for their economy

To do anything less would be to lose the fight.

Politically, they have momentum and need to use it or lose it.

They know that President Biden was elected fairly, they just don't want anymore democratic politicians in the highest office.

Unless the conspirators are tried and convicted the coup will go on.

Unfortunately, there is to much money floating the fascists agenda, well funded means the ability to buy the slow walk and pay off those who could stop their rise to power.

There needs to be an unrelenting series of sanctions, trials and jailing's in order to prevent the oncoming fall and I just don't see it happening unless we can take back the message and label them all, once and for all, TRAITORS and NAZI's.

They need to bleed from the ears.

..likely won't till the DOJ decides it's a crime or the Trump cult regains control of the Legislative and Executive branches by suppressing the voters and possibly rejecting a Democratic win. After which they'll say, "See, we told you the 2020 election was rigged."

Eastman is still trying to get a state to de-certify 2020, Trump's preaching the election was the crime of the century and the leaders of the party are silently hoping the coup succeeds.

Prior to that they were more like, "the loyal opposition". A respectable position which inspired the Democrats to embrace nuance and the future, widening their vision of their constituency and adapt with evolving demographics. Nixon's GOP did us all a great favor by adopting the "southern strategy". We are a better party for it. It's no small part of the Republican's current strategy/dilemma that they're stuck with the low-info, racists who abandoned the Democrats as traitors to their cause in the 1970's.

It is minority/autocratic rule, their only option currently available to stave off absolute illegitimacy, which poses our greatest potential for catastrophy as they, in 2022, make their final desperate grab at power and relevance. They're playing their "C" team. One would assume that it should be easy to defeat them. Their single most threatening aspect is their entrenchment in the Judiciary: the USSC, the DOJ, federal judgeships and several state's supreme courts. It's not helpful that so many police forces in Democratic cities are unionized into the role of GOP "enforcers" and I would hate to rely on any positive outcome should a martial law situation present itself.

As any wise coach or general would say, "play to your strengths". Separate them from that sliver of voters who may vote but don't yet know for whom. (I know that's incredible to contemplate, but so is string theory) Ridicule their candidates and their positions at every turn, they're sure to provide a multitude of opportunities. Call out all their duplicities and malfeasance. Call them so loudly that even the US media would have to report it. Call them so clearly that no sufficient amount of both-sider-ism could stick in voter's minds.

Oh,............ and call them appropriately bad names that even grade school intellects will understand.

If Democrats had simply gone ahead with the impeachment hearings and not, as Addison "Mitch" McConnell put it, "let things cool down a bit", there might have been a change in the wind.

I will forever see that as a massive lost opportunity, but there have been many. Nancy Pelosi is also the one who chose not to prosecute Bush, Cheney & Rove for war crimes they were later convicted of in the international court.

Even now, apart from challenging redistrictings in court - sometimes before judges McConnell placed by holding the seat open during Obama - I feel like DC Democrats still aren't fighting the same fight as the rest of us.
