She always grew sunflowers.
The Czechs wear colorful clothes.

(2,870 posts)and they were worn by both male and female at weddings to symbolize virginity at the wedding! First time I've ever seen the MALE virginity to be as important as the female's!!!!
I read the entire article (this one was at Vogue... some gorgeous headdresses; many elaborate, many more that one could wear everyday); nowhere was there mention of any pagan symbolism, which surprised you. Like someone mentioned above, I'd have bet good money it hearkened back to fertility symbolism.
They are hoping that the comeback of these headdresses in all forms, even the smallest forms of dried flowers woven in headbands (like we flowerchildren used to wear back in the 60's) could form the basis of bringing wars to an end... giving peace a chance all across the world. A good goal, if only. I think it'll take more than that. But I've grown cynical thru the years, I'm afraid.
