"MSNBC is opinion programming, not news. "

CNN reports that NBC News staffers are angry over MSNBC hiring Jen Psaki while she's still White House press secretary. Management responded to their concerns by emphasizing that MSNBC is opinion programming, not news. Staffers are still upset. Via CNN:

Most of the content is opinion oriented in the form of nonstop 6-8 minute panel discussions they have on different topics every hour and that content is 100 percent opinion. It’s completely warped and disgusting and has played a significant role in ruining our country.

It's the Fox method of reporting. CNN does it as well.

We Report, You decide, changed all 24 hr news outlets. This isn't understood very well.

Start with a question. Present a couple of points of data or information. Then ask the question again.

It's horrible. It's We Report, You decide. It's the cornerstone of almost all primetime/close to primetime slots. There is zero chance of talking to a Hannity or Maddow viewer about this. Each thinks they are watching something special. The drive is based in individual personalities and how well that persons words conform to the viewers understood knowledge and comfort zone.

MSNBC's only value is combating Fox News. I'm not saying there isn't great value in MSNBC.

Is there any chance that we can get back to a balanced show in which two zealous but well informed opinion hosts debate the important issues of the day without shouting and demagoguery?

Also could the other side have five minutes for rebuttal in any broadcast of these opinion shows. Allow the host to have the final word, but at least have someone question the assertion of facts made by the hosts.

Fox modeled their “news” show after sports channels where a bunch of folks sit around and argue over whose quarter back made the best play.

We report, you decide.

It’s now the technique used by most outlets.

Clearly Hannity and Maddie are wildly different people. Neither report the news. It’s not a conversation that can ever be held with one of their “fans.” They deliver self conforming information.

become paid political commentators once they leave their adminstration role. An opinion host is just a commentator with a full time/60 minute gig.

Where they so outraged with Corey Lewandowski was receiving a CNN paycheck while also advising Donald Trump during the 2016 election?

The access that opinion host from Fox had to then President Trump was truly astonding and a much greater source of concern. Fox and Republican adminstrations have a constant revolving door and even a positive feedback loop of messaging.

I would have to be blind to not realize where Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell stand politically, but they usually back up their opinions with the documented facts that led them there. They may ignore some leads that they don't agree with, but I'm not being lied to like on Fox.

Just now on Morning Joe they were discussing opinions on who will win baseball's opening night. LOL

I always considered CNN as unbiased.

That statement by the lawyer should run before any opinion host starts their program (whether left or right). If not then you are subject to strict liability if you don't gets your facts straight.

And apparently she's the only one, because no other NBC News employees are mentioned.

I can only guess her motive, maybe envy over the big salary? Jen Psaki is reported going to their streaming channel Peacock. Jen will be no competition for Kristen while she's at Peacock. What happens after that is anybody's guess.

Maybe some day, Jen willl be gunning for Kristen's job?
