"They" could simply be referring to those who have to defend their seats in 2022.

He may not think of himself as a Republican, but he definitely thinks of himself as superior to Democrats.

Self enrichment, and especially self enrichment of the fossil fuel ilk.

If those are the standards, he’s superior.

He is the only Democrat who is able to be elected state-wide in West Virginia.

He ensures a Dem is Senate Majority Leader and that the heads of every single Senate Committee is a Democrat or votes with Democrats.

The solution is to elect more Dems so his vote is not a roadblock.

Brian Williams was talking about Manchin tonight and how astounding it is for a candidate with a D next to their name to win a statewide race in WV, where Trump got over 2/3 of the vote in 2020. He also quipped that the state is so red it can be seen from space.

As much of a pita as Manchin can be (and I get as exasperated with him as anyone else here), he's helping keep Mitch out of the majority leader seat, and that is a very BFD. If McConnell was majority leader, he'd be making sure NONE of Biden’s agenda ever get passed. Build Back Better would be dead in the water right now.

Since the possibility of any other Democrat winning a Senate race in WV is somewhere between "Ha ha no" and "When pigs fly," primarying Manchin is the LAST thing the party needs to do.

We need Democrats who support the President 100%. If he wins elections good for him, but it doesn't help the party if he isn't willing to bring the people to our table. Winning elections is just a power play for him and his ego. The party needs candidates who bring our message to the people because Biden's agenda is best for the country and for the people of W. Virginia.

The Senate Majority Leader sets the agenda for items that get voted on.

If Manchin is taken out, that becomes McConnell who won't pass ANY of Biden's legislation or confirm ANY of his nominees. He's not called Dr. No and Dr. Death for nothing.

All committee chairs are then Republicans who will begin investigating and grandstanding, including manufacturing reasons to impeach Biden.

Think they won't? They are a very vindictive lot almost to a person.

If we can gain seats in the Senate in 2022, then Manchin becomes less important right away, at least for budget items.

what the doomsayers don't understand is that even if progressives continue to ignore rw radio it, like trumpism, rots with limbaugh - GOP/putin central messaging is doomed without the moral and intellectual leader of the republican party the last 30 years. they're falling apart, they have no head, without limbaugh, and if manchin thinks the republican party will be a pleasant place he is a fucking idiot.

He voted to give Senate control to the Democrats.

He voted in favor of President Biden’s cabinet members.

He voted in favor of President Bidenb’s Judges.

He voted in favor of the Infrastructure Bill.

He voted in favor of the ACA in 2010.

He voted in favor of convicting Donald Trump. Twice.

It's infuriating. It's fine to negotiate bills, but the year (and counting) of negotiations is really, really negative for Dems. And now he seems to be jumping on the "freedom from vaccination" bandwagon. I've had it with the guy.
