I've checked in with most of my Louisiana folks.

Some are evacuating farther north in La. to family, and some to family in central Miss. Some have generators and are staying put. They know the risks. At least most of my 11 great-grandchildren will be far enough away I think.

My mother (98) and her husband in Baton Rouge should be ok. They have a generator and somebody is checking on them.

There's nothing I can do but wait along with everybody else.

Know the risks but this one, on the anniversary of Katrina, looks just as monstrous. I hope your family is safe.

said the roads were jammed anyway. They survived Katrina and have everything as prepared as possible at this point. Now it is just a waiting game.

Metry Lakefront. 😂😂 I made a Metairie GFS wind field time lapse movie. Looks like 50mph sustained winds here, as of 6am Saturday forecast track.

It's slow moving, bumper to bumper. I'm staying put. I won't even bother with a generator this time. If we lose power I'm heading out of state after the storm.

My sister lives there. Lots of friends too. They know they are going to get hammered.

The last hurricanes I dealt with were Katrina and Rita in 2005. That was enough for me. Moved to Kentucky in 2006. Back to BR in 2014 and back to Kentucky in 2017. The big flood in 2016 was a big factor in moving back to KY. The weather is just getting worse and worse there.

almost all my family "peeps" are in New Orleans/Metairie. Sis in Mississippi. Sis-in-law in Shreveport. Some fam in Baton Rouge. Family has been in that area since the mid 1800s, before that up Pennsylvania way, clear back to the birth of the nation. Hubby and I are the stray sheep who moved away to Colorado a year after we got married. Miss the family, but still feel we made a good move. We started a whole new branch of the family here. Lived through too many hurricanes and rotten politicians.

Unless you left at 4am, it’s a parking lot. Whole neighborhoods are still wiped out from Katrina, nobody’s playing around for this one. You can see monuments to a hurricane’s deadly force everywhere you drive here.

As is my personal practice, I’m praying for those in Ida’s path. I will add your family members to those prayers.
