I wanted to get an idea of who has been vaccinated yet, as well as which vaccination you've gotten, if you have.
As for me, I've been vaccinated twice with Pfizer.

(142 posts)I was able to make an appointment on the 8th and got my first Moderna shot on the 12th. I had to drive an hour away to get the shot (to a less populated area) and it wasn't easy getting an appointment. Had to just keep checking the websites.

Im in South Florida, the most populated part of the state so I thought I was gonna be waiting for a LONG time. I had checked both public and private vaccine sites the week before eligibility opened up and throughout the week of the 5th, and everything everywhere was completely booked. For me, that seemed to reaffirm what I already believed that I was gonna have a long wait ahead of me.
I wasnt gonna be picky about which vaccine I took. I will take an appointment with whatever vaccine that was available but I did prefer the one and done shot so if I could have found availability for the J&J vaccine, I would have taken it.
On the 11th, my aunts were giving me vaccine sites that didnt require appointments because they also thought it was gonna be a while before I could get an appointment. In the afternoon, I just decided to check thinking they were all gonna be booked anyway and I find 2 local Walgreens within 10 minutes from my house with open appointments all day Thursday and yesterday with Pfizer vaccines. They didnt last that long. All appointments were booked almost immediately after so Im stoked that I was able to find an appointment at all so soon after eligibility opened up.

(142 posts)I had to make three appointments. One for myself, my husband, and my 18 year old son. I was glad we were able to get them at least all in the same place at the same time and our second shots will also be at the same time and same place.

(19,569 posts)I'm well beyond my 2 weeks post vaccine.
Now I'm literally waiting for news on my booster 12 months down the road.
I feel like a part of the solution.

I made history. Also, no adverse side effects beyond mild normal reactions for most people.

(1,962 posts)Hit the website very early Thursday morning, already have appointments set up for my two Moderna shots on the 19th and May 17th.
I got quite lucky to get dates so soon and so close to home (a two block walk each way), and I'm glad I'll be able to finally get this over and done with.

(23,218 posts)I didn't care one bit, either.
I understand due to the emerging variants, we may need another vaccination (or two) and a yearly booster.
They can certainly have my arm, again.

(11,167 posts)I have anti-vaxers in my family and theyre like what do you care if others choose not to be vaccinated if youre vaccinated and cant contract it?
That was the point to my reply. It was not to attack the poster!

You have anti-vaxxers in your family?
mobeau69
(11,167 posts)if you have a 10% chance of infection if exposed to Covid your odds are much better if those you come into contact with also only have a 10% chance of being infected as opposed to a 100% chance.

(38,601 posts)The most available vaccination sites are too far away for our unreliable vehicle. The appointments a local healthcare facilities, Boards of Health, and pharmacies fill up within minutes of being made available.
On the bright side, this means people are getting the vaccine.
I just wish I were one of them.
OhioChick
(23,218 posts)I've heard many say that appointment slots are a problem in certain areas. (Filling up too quickly)
Keep trying and you'll eventually get your vaccination.
Rhiannon12866
(206,651 posts)It took awhile to come here in the Northeast, but now there are numerous sites and they're even taking walk ins.
And originally the vaccine was only available as you describe. My friend who teaches had to drive completely across the state to get hers. Hang in there...

(5,547 posts)That this poll has a high correlation to age distribution on this forum. Since older people are more likely to already be fully vaccinated.
Im just happy to see my DU family getting protected.

(142 posts)Ages 16 - 49 wasn't allowed to get to shots until April 7th in my state and I think in most states they are only just getting started with that large age group.
OhioChick
(23,218 posts)I'm sure HCWs and many Frontline Workers, regardless of age were indeed vaccinated first, in many cases.
I believe my State was open for all ages in mid-March.
genxlib
(5,547 posts)When the youngest cohort became eligible in Ohio. I only know that because it was important info for us because my daughter is in that age group at Ohio State. Most states were a little later than that.
That would make it difficult for the younger crowd to have both shots unless they had specific exemptions
Im not saying it is a perfect correlation but I would expect the results to reflect a higher percentage of completion than the general population because of our collective age.
Heck, I am in my 50s and I only have one shot and I got my appointment on the very first day of eligibility for my age group. I would have done it sooner if I was allowed to.

(146 posts)Just like you we have registered in the main database of my state which is VA Dept of Health been waiting and waiting and been inquiring from the Covid hotline to find out why my hubby who is diabetic has not been called yet for appointment until now. We also explored Walgreens/CVS and our health providers but cant get any appointment. Somebody told me my countys health Dept is taking appointments and this one lead led to a Pfizer appointment this Wed 21st of April for me and hubby hallelujah!!!
We should have been done weeks ago with our first shots had we known....smh
