Teacher: Ohio Target worker snubs student shopping

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio middle school teacher says an employee at a local Target store told her she couldn't shop with about 25 students buying items for charity.
Sandy Bean tells The Plain Dealer newspaper she and other Mayfield teachers have for about five years taken students to the Mayfield Heights Target to buy items for a Cleveland-area crisis nursery. She says they spend about $2,000.
She says she called Monday to tell a manager they'd be coming Friday and was told there weren't enough cashiers.
The Minneapolis-based Target Inc. apologized Tuesday, saying the store leader contacted the teacher and the students will be shopping there Friday.

From what I can tell, Target stores are HUGE. They can't handle 25 shoppers at once?!! AtomicKitten Dec 2011 #1

They should ask local small businesses if they can get a discount. AtomicKitten Dec 2011 #3

followed by "however, No Thank You as we will be taking our business down the street to local merchants." That said I don't know here specific situation and it is easy to suggest a course of action without all the facts.

Question? Do you know where the emoticons are located? I can't find them?

I used to work for the city of Capitola on their Art and Wine Festival and their Begonia Festival. I'd solicit local merchants to contribute stuff for various projects. I'll bet the students could spend their charity dollars at local merchants with a nice discount; they are usually glad for the business. That would be an excellent up-yours to Target!

I can't find a list of the emoticons here. Fortunately I have a few committed to memory.

I ran a small game/hobby store for 18 years and if someone wanted to spend a big number with me or was doing something for charity I would have certainly been more than willing to work with them. We did do things with teachers along the way as games, pine car & our historical miniatures did lend themselves to various school projects.

And thanks for the answer on the emoticons.
