President Biden is not budging on the size of checks to Americans.

He said: "I'm not cutting the size of the checks. They're going to be $1,400. Period. That's what the American people were promised."

The size may remain $1400 but the eligibility is being discussed.

The Manchin amendment asking for it to be reconsidered passed 99 to 1. It did not quote any figure, just that one must make sure upper income families dont benefit. On the surface, its a sound statement. It leaves the actual thresholds for debate in the committee chaired by Sanders. If we end up reducing those thresholds, this is going ( in my opinion) to be a serious backslash in 2022.

Ossoff and Warnock barely made it and it was a big part of their campaign . They had to explain already that this $2000 was really $1400 ro complement the $600.

In 2 yrs Warnock is up for reelection and may have to explain to constituents why they were cutoff from that 1400.00 .
The same scenario has the potential to repeat in suburban house districts.

Now, I am obviously nowhere near as savvy politically as speaker Pelosi or leader Schumer and they may have concluded its worth the tradeoff.

"That's what the American people were promised" -- some restrictions may apply.

$2000 was only promised because they did not pass any $600 relief bill at that time.
