Rep. Swalwell and Rep. Mikie Sherrill were simultaneous guests, and O'Donnell began by asking Swalwell a few questions. After minutes went by without O'Donnell giving Sherrill a chance to talk, Swalwell stopped answering and changed the topic to how Sherrill was a veteran, and how she always served legislatively but on Wednesday she served by using her military experience to help people with their masks, help them evacuate and help keep them calm.
It was a gracious way to ensure that Sherrill got her due attention and respect, and sure enough, O'Donnell pivoted and gave her the rest of the questions.

(4,572 posts)impeach. I can't reproduce that here, but it was quite brilliant, both rhetorically and for its content.

(36,305 posts)He was so gracious, true, but you could see his cold steel resolve to make sure this impeachment hits the floor.

(14,623 posts)got some airtime with the mention that she and Jason Crow helped the other Representatives who were trapped. That is a profile in courage - to prepare cooly for battle against overwhelming odds.
I think I am going to make a study of the Democratic House members - we've got some darned good ones.
But I watched Rachel, too, and she laid out the whole 14 million member Trump 'private' army, and the ramifications of resignation, impeachment, and/or Senate trial even after Trump leaves office. His biggest 'out' from the certainty of being indicted on federal charges of insurrection and possibly treason after leaving office is to resign, and get Pence to pardon him.
As to Lawrence Tribe, he had some interesting contributions to Last Word, as well. About impeachment and the urgent need for the House to proceed regardless of what the Senate will or will not do.
But, barring delusions and perhaps a psychotic break, I think Trump will end up trying to convince Pence to pardon him if he resigns. If he can convince Pence, I do believe he will resign, because he is afraid of prison. Problem is, he incited the mob to try and murder Pence. If I were Pence I'd tell him to piss up a rope.
Ideally, Pence will refuse to pardon Trump, the House will impeach, and Turtle McConnell will start the Senate trial the day of Biden's inauguration. The Senate will try Trump and will vote to keep him from ever holding national office again.
Immediately following his confirmation as the DOJ Director, Merrick Garland will begin investigations, and will bring Trump up on federal charges. Trump will be convicted and imprisoned. Yay!
Let's hope so.
But I have the nagging suspicion that somehow, Trump will prevail on Pence for a pardon and will resign. This is what I think will actually happen. Pence doesn't really have a spine, after all.

(143 posts)he has no spine and no integrity. i could see him accepting a trump plan to resign and pence pardon him, with pence having an eye on a 2024 run.
if i were mike pence though, which as a decent human being, i would never be in pence's shoes. but if i were, i would tell trump, yes i'll pardon you, then as soon as trump resigned, then i'd tell him to go piss up a rope.
