And several democrats missed their original group and voted in the last group. As to why was not said but it could have been for many innocent reasons.

(3,974 posts)Not their own reporting. Plus the tweet was wrong. Most of the squad voted in their original groups. And they voted for Pelosi. There were 5 democrats who did not vote for Pelosi but have not seen anyone outraged about any of them.

(3,974 posts)The CSPAN anchor repeated a third party tweet, which was inaccurate since most of the squad had already voted. Here is CSPANs own Twitter home page, they dont report it or retweet it: https://mobile.twitter.com/cspan

(58,785 posts)And I'm serious. This is not a game. And committee assignments are coming up. Not that voting for her rather than let the speakership fall to #RealCorruptCorporatistMcCarthy was even slightly more than what was expected.

JonLP24
(29,322 posts)I know it is the moderates in Congress that want Pelosi replaced more than progressives.
I'm saying the political suicide part is risking McCarthy becoming Speaker because that would be used against them.

(3,974 posts)Other members from the squad voted in their original groups and voted for Pelosi. AOC along with several other democrats missed their original group and voted in the final group. Why they missed their original group is unknown but only AOC is being accused of withholding her vote. And why no outrage for the 5 democrats who didnt vote for Pelosi?
brush
(53,918 posts)I had heard she voted with the squad. If that's wrong, I was wrong. No biggie as far as I'm concerned.
Dem4Life1102
(3,974 posts)I watched the vote on CSPAN. Most of the the squad voted in their groups. Omar was called right after AOC and voted for Pelosi. AOC and several other democrats missed their original groups, for reasons unknown, and voted in the final group. Too many are pushing falsehoods about what happened and assigning bad motives to people with no evidence.

What was the reason for that?
Dem4Life1102
(3,974 posts)voting in their original groups. No reason has been given as to why. And I refuse to speculate regarding any of their motives without any evidence. But it is interesting that there is so little outrage for the 5 democrats who didnt vote for Pelosi

(3,974 posts)Its not like AOC voted for someone else or voted present then switched her vote to Pelosi. She simply missed her original group, as did several other democrats, for which there could be many reasons. Yet there were no posts about any of the other democrats who missed voting with their original groups, just ones about AOC.

Probably because they are neither seen nor treated as sacred cows. So no, not really that interesting, given that we're honest with ourselves.

(7,509 posts)Rice and Ocasio-Cortez have been battling behind the scenes for weeks to secure one of the few open seats on the exclusive committee, which oversees everything from health care policy to climate issues. Tensions spilled into the open Thursday in a private meeting of the Steering and Policy Committee, where Democrats were forced to choose between the two members in a tense and awkward secret ballot vote.
Rice ultimately won in a lopsided vote of 46-13, though it wasnt without some drama after some moderate Democrats openly criticized Ocasio-Cortez.
-snip-
Rice, who had been expected to get the seat, attempted to block Pelosi from leading House Democrats in the 116th Congress and is now seen as a crucial vote for the speaker this time around since Democrats have a slimmer majority. Its a big turnaround for the Long Island Democrat and former prosecutor: after she spoke out against Pelosis speakership, Rice was denied a seat on her preferred committee Judiciary just two years ago.

It's been clear for a while that the Dem leadership doesn't really mind challengers as long as they are coming from the right.
