Biden Administration Will Create Position to Reach Conservatives

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-12-08/biden-administration-will-create-position-to-reach-conservatives?

The Biden administration plans to create a position to find common ground with conservatives, said Louisiana Congressman Cedric Richmond, a senior adviser and director of the Office of Public Engagement for the president-elect.

“Right now I’m trying to set up the office and I’m actually looking at establishing a position that reaches out to conservatives -- because it’s about moving forward. We cannot stay where we are,” Richmond said during the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council on Monday night.

He said the office’s goal was to forge connections with all Americans, regardless of their political affiliation. “We’re not elected just to help Democrats or urban cities or minorities,” he said. “We were elected to help this entire country and that means reaching out to conservatives, that means reaching out to rural areas, reaching out to people who didn’t vote for us.”

President-elect Joe Biden named Richmond, a campaign co-chair, to head the Office of Public Engagement last month. On Monday, Biden appointed him as one of five co-chairs of his inaugural committee.

As long as the conservatives don't get a say in policy, I think this is a good idea. First, it looks good. Second, it'd be great if we can get some "conservatives" to believe in reality.

Maybe I'm being juvenile, but they've been saying "fuck your feelings" for 40 years. I've had VASTLY MORE than enough. Time to repay the disdain.

With his extra limbs, Doc Ock will be better equipped than most of us for reaching a hand out only to pull back a stump.

It wasn't "Trumpism" when they voted against bills they themselves had sponsored because they thought Obama would never agree to them, only to be caught by "ok, we'll do it your way if that's what it takes to get it done" and face the prospect of being photographed alongside Obama at a signing ceremony.

But reaching out to repubs in Congress? That's a whole different matter. They've shown who they are. Most won't even acknowledge Biden's win.

Republicans met and made a pact to obstruct everything Democratic. That pact is still in effect.

Maybe if John McCain were still alive? I know Susan is very concerned. Can't think of many others to reach out to.

No, Trump voters are not going to compromise either, I know, I live among them.

The best suggestion I heard was for Joe to start rapid firing EO's and whatever he can do without the Republican Congress. Overwhelm them like Trump did only with good policies. Make it so they can't keep up, go from one policy to the next rapid fire.

I’m so sick of hearing about coddling conservatives throwing temper tantrums.

They’re already treated like a protected class via bogies “religious freedom” court decisions so they can discriminate against gay people.
