Then we use the opportunity to smack them down and highlight for the American people just how seditious and UnAmerican they are. “Why do you hate America so much Jim?” “Putin’s henchmen here hard at work” And all the other righteous opprobrium we can heap. They must be excoriated and exposed as the enemies of democracy which they are and not be permitted to start another phony crybaby diversionary shitshow to delegitimize President Biden like they did to President Obama. We need to go on offense and hit them hard..

That one thing that separates the USA from other countries is the norm of a peaceful transfer of power after elections. So much for that.

would be a mandate. As long as the US has the electoral college, elections for President will NEVER be fair!

But this coup attempt BS is new and if we can’t pass laws to make sure it can’t happen again, Repugs will be tantrum-throwing babies every time they lose an election.

we will have our 46th peaceful transition of power in 43 days.

I'm not a member of the "Glasses Are Either Full or Empty Club," where of course they're always empty, democracy was always dead, freedom, rights and equality are all nonexistent, and so on.

that's a bunch of malarkey!

In fact, most democratic countries severely limit their campaigns (here in Canada it's 5 weeks, likewise the UK). They limit the amount of $$ any one individual, or company, can donate. They have an independent Federal Elections Commission which oversees ALL aspects of a federal election -- including the formation of districts. And the day after the election, the new Prime Minister actually becomes the new Prime Minister! Imagine that!

In so many ways, I'm sorry to tell you that the USA is one of the least democratic countries (actually ranks 27th on the world democracy index).

And finally, the fact that Trump and his lawyers have been allowed to get away with not accepting the results is just so, so shameful.

Yet, they pretend to function as stewards of the country. It's unbelievable, or should be. Sadly, it's completely believable, because there it is, right in front of us.
