Biden +7 in Pennsylvania, in the first high quality poll of the state in some time:B49/T42

Suffolk University/USA TODAY network poll of Pennsylvania likely voters:
(10/15-10/19) – President
Joe Biden 49%
Donald Trump 42%
Jo Jorgensen 1%
Others 1%
Undecided 4%
Refused 3%

18% have already voted

For reference, if the same amount of people vote in 2020 as in 2016, then 7% is around 450,000 votes.

But that still looks quite good. Even peeling off just 25% of undecided is an easy win.

At least in normal years. The psych is that voters who are unsure if they can continue to support the president are more likely to list themselves as undecideds, but generally break in favor of the challenger when it comes time to vote.

That's a normal year anyway. This ain't nermle by any means.

Refusniks, yeah, they reek of trump supporter.

concerning undecideds isn't so much who to vote for but whether or not they're voting at all.

I could easily see this as the anti-Hillary group that may not like either candidate and just may decide to sit this one out.

I of course like the 7 point margin but I'd feel even better if Biden was hitting 50% or higher in these polls of Pennsylvania.

when so many others are saying it's a much closer race in Pennsylvania. Polls are but a snapshot in time. What really matters is who can get their supporters to actually vote. I don't get how 4% can still be undecided! Perhaps Obama can help them "decide" when he campaigns for Biden today in Pennsylvania.

ThIs is indeed the first high-quality poll of PA in many installments. Plenty of low-grade polls have been out there, some of them obviously trying to set a phony narrative. Good to see this great result.

People are volunteering to be poll workers in record numbers in Philly and the suburbs

by Oona Goodin-Smith and Jonathan Lai, Posted: October 19, 2020

[snip]

Nationwide, pleas for poll workers have been desperate given fears of a coronavirus-driven shortage. Groups like Power the Polls have sponsored ads on social media and sent mass automated text messages, encouraging a younger generation to volunteer. Typically, poll workers tend to be older (58% in 2018 were over the age of 61, according to Pew Research Center), a population at greater risk from COVID-19. And leading up to a presidential election in a public health crisis, officials feared for the worst. But across Pennsylvania, the recruiting efforts have paid off.

In Philadelphia, more than 20,000 people answered the call for 8,500 poll worker positions, said Omar Sabir, one of the three city commissioners who run local elections. Bucks County received “several hundred more than needed,” according to county spokesperson Larry King. And polling places in Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware Counties will be well staffed, too, officials said.

“Amid the chaos and terrible things this year, this response has been a total bright spot,” said Lauren Cristella, chief advancement officer at the Committee of Seventy, a nonpartisan, good-government group. “It’s really heartwarming to see some people stepping up.”

But with the influx of volunteers, communication from the counties' already thinly spread election offices has been scant. Officials said there’s a chance that some people who volunteered just won’t hear back from them. “We’re grateful they applied, but we just don’t have the bandwidth to reach out to everybody,” said Delaware County Council member Christine Reuther.

Michigan and Wisconsin have swung out of reach for Trump. Florida and Arizona would be icing for us and make election night so much less stressful, but Pennsylvania is where this election will be won.
